I got a G1 bait flutterpony that was in fairly rough shape, so I carved out her wing base, filled it full of clay, added a horn, did a total repaint and rehair. Originally she was going to be silver but the silver paint was just too thin and lousy. So I went with blue. I had to decide what symbol to do, but her colors kept making me think royalty, hence, I decided to go with a Royal Flush. It was INSANELY hard to paint the lettering on the cards, I slides up a paintbrush until only a couple hairs remained. In the end I really liek how she turned out. The purple is more vivid then it looks, thats just how the flash hit it. Overall, I like her a lot.
Testors oil or latex? Oil based paint (like model paint) adheres badly to the ponys' vynl. Latex tends to peel off. Acrylic seems to work the best, but can need a coat of finish.
First of all, you use a blade/scissors to just the hair as close to the head as possible. Then, if it's a G1 (1980s) pony, the head will twist off with little effort, cause they didn't usually glue them. If it's a G2 or a G3 (current), then you'll have to take a blade and slice ponies head off. If you do it carefully you CAN save the cork so it's easier to put back on, but meh, I tend to just slice the whole head off. Once it's off, use a pair of tweezers or needle nose pliers to yank out the plugs.
Once you get the head off, use pliers to reach in and pull out the tail. it'll have a clamp and a ring on it. (the ring may be either plastic or metal) You can reuse the ring afterwards to help secure the new tail in.
