Oh fuck you, RadioOne. My favourite radiostation here, Y100, was just randomly changed from alternative rock to rap/r&b overnight. No warning, no reason, just bam, gone. I was listening to the radio last night around 6pm and everything was normal - they were promoting events and giving out tickets, just like every other day. I turn the radio on this morning at 5am and it's rap music. I'm like wtf? So I leave it on to hear the commercial, the 'New 100.3' ....So I go to the Y100 website, it's gone... But I did find
this. So yeah, the owners just randomly fucking decided to change the format and fire all the DJs, etc. And it's not like Y100 wasn't fruitful - every year they had two major concert events, Feztival in the summer and Feastival in the winter, every year they sold out. They raised over 50,000 tons of food in thier Camp Out for Hunger campaign... I just don't understand wtf this decision came from. So now all of Philadelphia is left with no alternative rock station, but has a 6th fucking rap station to add to the list. Thanks, fuckers.
On the good side of things, my parents are going away on their bi-yearly cruise with my dad's company (the company pays for it all since my dad's a sales rep) for 7 days...and they normally put my cat, Razi, in the pet sitter thing...but this time I get to take care of her the whole week ^___^ My apt building doesn't allow pets, so that's why she isn't with me in the first place (which kills me, I miss her so much) But my mom called and asked the landlord if he'd allow it for a week - and he said yes. This makes me so happy, I get to cuddle wif my kitty all week ToT

*sigh* you been around as long as I have and you get used to your favorite stations disappearing. In the last 15-20 years, every single station in my hometown has been given a facelift and it's not just because I'm old and the music outgrew me. Although all my favorite music is now on the oldies station. *bleah* I used to tease my mother about listening to oldies when I was a teen.
Just you wait you young whipper snappers, your day will come! Now to go play some SuperEurobeats Japanese techno....

*sigh* Guess they want to go after the huge rap craze that's still continuing. I've been lucky enough not to have this happen to any of my favorite radio stations, but even normal top 40 stations seem to play nothing but rap.
Rather listen to alternative rock or metal than yet another Jay-Z or Nelly track.
I don't know about you guys, but I personally hate most rap. Some of it is good, but most is the same generic stuff, played over and over. If the artist tries to make some new and interesting rhymes, makes the song about something other than bitches and bling it's good. Most however, don't. Yet it's so popular even still.

Same thing happened to a channel up here called Kiss 92.5FM. It used to play all kinds of urban music, and mondern stuff, and then all of a sudden, it just plays (now dont take offence) crap, like rock, some metal, and other random tracks.
It turns out that the building, which was occupied by Rogers, was bought out by the company, thus taking ownership of everything inside the building. Hence the radio station was taken over, people working for Kiss fired, and all this other bullshit. THe channel is now called Jack 92.5; their slogan? Playing what we want.
Talk aobut a disappointment. ._.'
