So I haven't updated this journal since... I first joined SheezyArt. Ah hur. Hur hur. So I'mma go ahead and talk about my biggest project thus far.
Making a visual novel, I've talked about it before in previously released art! But now, we're really getting into it. Lemme go into detail.
My partner in crime is Rieka, who is also my rl best friend. For shits and giggles, we were talking about which of our characters made good couples. From that, we talked about how they'd act together. From there, we added in more characters, saying who would be best friends, who would hate each other, crushes, lovers, enemies, the works.
This resulted in AU1. That was in December. Not even a year ago had we casually talked about this, and now it's a full fledged story, complete with a beginning, middle and end. So much so, we feel it would make a great visual novel. And now we're working on it.
Now personally, I've never seen a visual novel in my *life,* they just don't interest me. Lol. And yet I wanna make one, wtf. So anyways, I downloaded Novelty, a free visual novel maker.
Right now we got some plot holes we need to cover, but I'd say 90% of the storyline is complete. It even comes with three alternative endings, though I can honestly say all the endings are rather sad for certain characters.
There's also a huge time skip, of nearly 20 years. So each character is being modeled not only for their younger 23 year old selves but as well as when they're 44 or so. Right now I'm working on their older selves, as their younger selves are 100% complete.
BGs are also a big problem. Rieka and I plan on going out and taking pictures of areas we feel will help us make nice BGs for the visual novel. Chances are we'll get lazy and just filter the hell outta pictures we take, lol.
Oh, also going to be needed voices, but that's not till waaaaaaaaaay later. Also Rieka's going to be making an opener and possibly an ending, where I'll be drawing the frames and she puts it together and makes it snazzy. Speaking of that...
MUSIC. THIS SERIOUSLY IS BOTHERING ME GUYS, HELP?
Now, before I start, Rieka and I are both previous band students, both of us with about 10 years of band under our belts. However, that doesn't help us at all when it comes to finding- or *making*- our own music for the visual novel. With that being said...
Does anybody know of free music that's OP-worthy? I'm looking for a sad, solemn song. Vocals please. Not looking too much into that piano/violin/ gothic sounding stuff, just something that represents a sad love song. Also don't mind if it's English or Japanese. I just want the point to get across, I want to convey a sense of desperation or sadness. In the music that is. Lol.
Or if not, does anybody know how to put music together? Like programs or something...? Or know of people I can talk to/request music from/possibly even commission music from?
Also, I don't want to use songs and music from super popular anime and games. Like. I'm not gonna go run off with the OP to Vampire Knight or Air or something. :U I want rather obscure music!
We got a long ways to go but this project has definitely taken off. Maybe we can make VNs for AU3 and the newly created last night AU, CMAU starring Autumn, Skyler, and Bailey!
= w= Ha ha, all right guys. Any help, tips, encouragement and the like are welcome~ This is a big project for two newbies to tackle, but we're both very, very determined to get this done.

Don't know if this track is melancholy enough for you, but i think this kind of sounds like the theme you're going for.

Inspiration by Chicago. Personally one of my favorite songs. And if you see it in the context of EBA then it's rather sad. Otherwise if put in the right way, it's really perfect for good or bad moments.
Also..i've been trained in voice acting(for 9 years now), so for way later when you're doing that, contact me.

Well I know a person who makes music on his own using various programs.

As for voice acting... sign me up if you need, not the best but I learned how to convey emotion through voice (I can trick many people and it's fun
