I finished the short pirate story “Best Laid Plans” finally! It’s taken me almost 2 months, but I finally finished it! YES!

This story was really hard for me to finish because of all the detail and characters I put into it. I’m so use to the swatches that I use for Ze Pirate and her crew. When it comes to populating the world with other characters I had to constantly go back and fourth between pages and use the dropper to make sure I got the right colors. To make matters worse, each page has a color hue added to it to unify them and make certain pages “feel” differently than others, which was a lot more cumbersome than I expected

I especially like the later pages of the story when the sky turns to a sunset and then to night time. I think I finally nailed those color pallets and they really make you feel like the characters are IN the scenes. I would like to do this more often in my stories... but the amount of work just puts me off for some reason...

Of course I wish I could show you all this story since I spent so much time on it and worked so hard to get it done, but alas you’ll just have to make do with the 4 page sample I gave earlier.

I’ve got another 15 page pirate story to color still... but I have a feeling this one will zip along much quicker because it focuses ONLY on Ze Pirate, Sam, and Atea. Because of that, I don’t have to have unusual color pallets and swatches and extraneous details to color in. While the art for this second story is a lot more “simple,” it’s much more of a character piece and allows all of them to bounce off each other.

Anyway, we’ll see... Now that I’m done I’m gonna take a break. Maybe play some “Elite Beat Agents” or “Drawn to Life” to easy up. I do really feel like I made an accomplishment all the same, I just wish I could show it off now! Lol
