This morning I read a few Bible verses, and wanted to share with you (Though I encourage you to read the whole chapter, which is only 18 verses altogether, because the whole chapter's really good). Some I highlighted, just because they stuck out to me the most. Yours might be one of the others:
Two Kinds of Wisdom
13Who is wise and understanding among you?
Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14
But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
18Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
- James 3:13-18
Prior to this, James talks about "Taming the Tongue," which can relate to these verses and how we should be careful what we say. ("Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers this should not be." v.10) I see it as, the more you speak of corruption and envy, the more your heart will believe it and become that way. It's true though. Just take a look at any gossip you hear. That's why you should not boast about bitterness.
And this can apply to anyone, whether they are Christian or not.
My friends, I hope to encourage you all (as much as I've been encouraged) in developing wisdom that brings peace and not envy.
And have a great day.
