I've tried in prior years here on SheezyArt not to go heavily into the endorsements of one candidate or another, despite the fact that I am very clear on my views and philosophy. And at work, I make a great effort not to air my political beliefs.

But this time, at least here online, I cannot hold back any longer.

I want there no longer to be any doubt: I am supporting John McCain and Sarah Palin as president and vice president of the United States.

As I have stated before, I believe this is not the time to allow ourselves, in our rush to fix blame for the mistakes of the past, to put ourselves in a bind for the future. I have had enough of the politics of blame, where all anybody thinks they have to say is how much they hate Bush-Cheney to score points. I am also tired of the idea that a knee-jerk reaction to said blame constitutes a solution to the problems that the country is obviously in.

I am encouraging people to look past their visceral disdain for the course the country has taken in the past eight years and to look at how we can deal constructively with it.

And I firmly believe that a return to small government, fiscal conservatism, and finishing the job we started in Iraq and Afghanistan--whatever the circumstances of our starting the job--is what we must do. I believe that we must hold those to account who contributed to the financial crisis on Wall Street and K Street...but that we must keep the government handouts to a minimum. And we sure as hell can't raise taxes...we know what happened when Herbert Hoover tried that.

I have no patience with the myth of class war and of this sect versus that. And I have no patience with the absolute hatred fixated on one single man who, as far as I am concerned, has a mixed bag of successes and failures and while he did definitely get off track of what true conservative principles are--is not a demon.

When I talk about change, I am ready to do so in a positive manner. I do not have to turn my back on those principles out of spite.

I am both keeping the faith AND making the change.

Asbeel Says:

You thought long and hard about it, at least. I feel that McCain would have had a better chance had he gone with someone more experienced -- Maine Senator Olympia Snowe, for example -- because Palin really isn't helping his cause. A friend of mine who works at Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard is voting for McCain, too, because he will be getting unlimited amounts of over time if McCain gets in; if Obama gets in, he will be working a normal 40/week most of the time. My father, on the other hand, is voting for McCain because he would be affected by Obama's tax plan. My coworker is voting for McCain because he shares her beliefs on pro-life. My other coworker is voting for Obama despite her partner's verbal abuse -- something that hadn't been in their relationship until the campaign started, and it is getting worse as it gets closer to the deadline.

As for class war -- I don't think it's as loud as people think, but there's definitely something there. The middle class is shrinking, and bailing out Wall Street didn't help things -- why bail out the rich when the everyman could have used that to help with their homes, or help with employers who cannot afford health care for their employees? Isn't that what we were taught to do? Help others who cannot help themselves? I would rather have my taxes go to help someone get health care than to bail out Wall Street -- but I've had no luck trying to explain my feelings to those who are unwilling to listen.

Anywho, gotta get to work.

Galloglasses Says:

I applaud your courage for announcing your veiws like this. Even at the risk of the, quite obvious, amount of flaming you could've gotten. Rest assured that you aren't the only person supporting McCain on Sheezy, (or at the very least, not supporting Obama), there's as urprising number here who think likewise.

The Class warfare thing is a myth, this is true. Living my life in Europe has thought me the fallacies of this 'gem' of socialist thinking. Big Government is a justifible fear, look at Britan and how interventionist its own government has become. (CCTV cameras are EVERYWHERE) And I agree that the blame warfare should stop as its not helping any of us.

Altough if it does, then Obama's 'Change' and 'Hope' platform will lose its impact, so thats not gonna happen. And the obvious media bias he has in the States, (and I assure you he has Europe's media lapping at his every word. I have yet to see ANY pro-McCain messages or guest on any TV or Radio program.), will seriously hurt McCain. Just look at the number of 'October Surprises' both sides have released regarding one another and how much focus is given to the scnadals of McCain and Palin. I could talk for a while on several of Joe Biden's stupid remarks that would seriously damage Obama's inroads in the Catholic Demographic support, and the Bishop's vicious responses to such statements, but there is NO media coverage.

How to fix the econemy? Not a clue, I will not pretend to know economics. I just know taxing your average Joe the Plumber more is not going to help small buisnesses and the average American. Tax and Spend, the archtypical method of the Democrats.

If you want some encouragement, I ask you to take a look at Zombietime's Article regarding 'The Left's Big Blunder' Click Here
Regarding Zombie's language, disdain for pretty much everything on the left, I am surprised she doesn't define herself a conservative. Altough we can never know since she tightly gaurds her anonmity.

Arbiter K Says:

I am very much for McCain and Palin. Obama has even admitted that what he will do is basically Income Redistribution on an interview on the news.

Plus, Obama supports abortion out the wazoo.

"I have no patience with the myth of class war and of this sect versus that. And I have no patience with the absolute hatred fixated on one single man who, as far as I am concerned, has a mixed bag of successes and failures and while he did definitely get off track of what true conservative principles are--is not a demon."

Amen to that. They spend so much time harpin' on how bad he is that we forget that HELLO HE HAS DONE GOOD THINGS AS WELL.

Lilac Wood Says:

Just that this whole political season has made people fear stating their opinions is upsetting to me. I've had writing sessions with immigrants and international students who have come from countries where dissent against the government means getting thrown into jail. One girl had her college ID taken from her and was banned from her campus for being part of the college's political club and voicing opinions against the current government.

I think it's terrible that in some places McCain supporters are getting attacked and ostracized, and in others the same is happening to Obama supporters. I think that people need to stop blaming the government and start looking at themselves if they want any change to happen.
