Getting up for work sucked. I got a whopping 4 hours of sleep, and when I woke up I kind of sat in bed for a moment and realized: Oh god, it's pouring outside. Nothing I could do about that though, so I put my uniform in a bag and borrowed my neighbor's bike and biked 20 minutes in that rain to work at 6 in the morning. X_X I was so wet and cold by the time I got there, and I was a good 40 minutes early, so I hung out at the nearby convenience store and changed into my uniform there.

First day of work was extremely fun. I had to very quickly learn to make people whatever the hell coffee they wanted, and fast. I tend to get confused when they go "Four creams and two sugars!" Because the machine gives cream out in a liquid, not little creamer cups. I also got very confused when some old guy tried to say "Sweet-N-Low". I looked to my 'partner' (I just forgot his name now) to get the order again since it's hard to hear over the counter, who told me "Equalow."

I gave him the wtf look, wtf is a freakin' Equalow. Some kind of bird? And it took two more times to get me to understand he said Sweet-N-Low. xD I felt like an idiot. But other than that the day went by without many hitches (My partner spilled hot coffee on my hand, that broke the ice and things were relaxed afterward 8'D).

Generally, there'll be dead moments, then there will be crazy packed moments. I noticed that in the 4 hour time period, we had 3 or 4 repeat customers.

A shocking thing was that I was really good with dealing with the customers. O_o I thought I'd be nervous with them but I have a lot of fun being polite to them and handing them their coffee. I'm more relaxed with them than I am with my coworkers, rofl. But yeah, once I knew what to do I stopped being a total blockhead and got to work pretty quick.

Near the end of my shift my partner suggested I spike my pepsi with french vanilla to see if I'd get vanilla pepsi. Not... quite. xD It tasted somewhat like coffee- if the soda were carbonated I probably would have liked it more.

But yeah- Working at Dunkin Donuts, epic win.

P.S. I can understand if you want splenda or some other sugar substitute in your coffee if you're trying to lose weight or something (I assume that's the only reason you'd do that)... But doesn't it defeat the purpose if you ask for five of them?

The question my bro and me are trying to figure out. "If you want to lose weight, and you put a pack of potato chips on a healthy sub, doesn't that defeat the purpose of that?"

but it sounds fun there, and it must be nice in a place wheres theres coffee, so if you have a early shift you can grab a cup. but i'm glad it was a good first day ^^
and do you have any pop machines? if so try mixing orange pop with barques root beer.

Tom of Forks Says:

I should ask the next coffee shop I go to for an Equalow.

Starspell Says:

LOL - indeed - defeats the purpose entirely. I'm glad you had a nice day I'm so proud of you
