"That was never the tactic, we have fooled no one, These changes are having to be put in place not because we want to, because they HAVE to be made otherwise the site gets shut down. That is the whole truth."
Very Well.
The point where I have trouble is why your providers (after about a year of time is it?) would suddenly want to shift the content parameters of Sheezy.
Here is what I think... purely conjectural.
I've narrowed it to three possibilities...Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing either (1) intentionally...(2) non-intentionally
or (3) the providers are just off their rocker to propose a sudden content restriction not realizing the what the backbone of Sheezy's success is.
At the time of Sheezy's formation when I assume you were relaying the idea of this site to the providers...the notion of Sheezy having adult content perhaps wasn't necessarily communicated either intentionally or more likely non-intentionally (as in you asked for support and they gave it no real questions asked...or not the particular ones) This is not to suggest that you guys were being devious...sometimes things just happen like this.
Fast forward to near-present...Sheezy art is booming. Wind gets to the providers that Sheezy has ...(OMG!) adult content. If this is what happened...I have no clue why it took this long. So the providers put on their negotiation hats and respectfully ask/tell/command your staff:
"Grave, it's cool that your site is successful but...we're gonna have to ask you to cut and/or "control" the adult content on it. Otherwise, we'll have to axe you. Why don't you try a more "family-friendly" approach? It's not like that will kill your popularity or anything, right..." and now, here we all are.
If I was to pick one...I'd choose the "miscommunication" hypothesis. Is this the result of the providers just not knowing of Sheezy's allowance of adult work until recently and they are allowing you a chance to salvage a successful site but at the same time putting you in a catch-22 by giving you directions to discontinue one of the key options that rocketed this sites' popularity?
If there is another explanation for this then I await your response. If I am close then I still await your response.
If you "can't" discuss it then I respect that...but in doing so you may also be giving me more of an answer than you want to.
Thanks for the response and the attention you have given this matter.
Thanks to everyone else who has given this journal a looksee.
My regards to you, Grave and your staff.
I'm gNAW...Have a good one.

I await further answers fate give to mortals residing in this dying earth.

Mapper Says:
I think ya pretty much nailed it, they aren't doing it by choice, its for continued existance. And I also think either some little one got caught looking looking at Sheezy and it is their parent doing what parents do. Then again The hate mongers may found us and are complaining again.
Its a pitty I like this place its friendly to our art or was.
Hmmmm.... I'm inclined to be a tad less diplomatic.
Back in the 90's Elin & I were given the sack by
Antarctic Press, one of the bigger indie comics
companies of the day.
The reason? Poor editorial decisions on our part?
No.
Low sales on the furry, manga, and adult books?
No, all three had been instrumental in propelling AP
up the ranks of publishers. The books were popular
and selling well.
Was it complaints about the contents of our books?
No, we weather many storms of controversy, but did
little to change how or what we did.
So then, why were we fired and the furry, manga
and adult comics that had sustained the company
for years let go?
Well, AP wanted to become a "respectable" comics
company, and you can't do that with "those" kinds of
books albatrosing you.
Flash forward to now. SA now enjoys a HUGE base
of artist support and material, enough to actually give
it something of a presence online. Forgive me if I can
only see invidious comparisines to my previous
experiences.
I'm here to stay, but for my own selfish reasons. I'll
work around the latest round of forbidden material
(Trust me, there's more to come. Ever notice how
much copyright character art is on SA?), and just do
what I do...
gulmunthos Says:
i like that explaination a lot better than the 'omg sa is run by nazi' ones..
Digied21 Says:
Dude, you are so right about this.
miyusuke Says:
This is why I came to SA in the first place and I was afraid they would consider doing this.... it's almost as if they're going on the proverbial pornagraphy crackdown like they did back in 2002 where they almost had to take away our hentai and ecchi videos and it's all coming to fruition again.... so much for a safe haven for "adult content".
Balade Says:
I'm inclined to agree with King Cheetah on this, There is always the option of switching to a provider that allows adult work. If they supported us artists as much as they say they do this would have been an option. In all it feels like we've been used, and none of us like it very much.

i just hope that the thumbnails won't go away...
and the comment previews also...
those 2 things are saving my eyes and wrist...
Donryu Says:
very well put friend. I too sent a letter to them, just as calm, and not anger oriented.. however.. not as well put.
