It as come to my attention that anyone who posts edits here is [insert your own word.] But there isn't a problem if you put it in shareables. Also, WHEN they actually make a custom spite, they are BOMBARDED with bad comments, after you bitched the hell out of them to make a custom. So what's up with that?

Also, there is a large amount of "artists" here, who like to post crappy flashes about stick figures doing each other. And yet they get rating ups, favs, and positive comments. This is the plague of sheezy art, not harmless editors, who just need to be pointed in the right direction. I want to see real artists who take time on their work, and not make some bull shit flash. So who agrees with me? If you don't, gladly present your argument.

you get pointed in the right direction, and end up going the other way were the big bad trolls lives under their bridges, and decide to shoot crappy art in their face, they're gonna follow you forever, they're not gonna stop.
so you shouldnt even edit or try to protect your edits in the first place, you'll just end up in the belly of the beast.

plus the way you worded that people are going to agree with you but even with my shitty flash animations I'm still making something on my own without any help, while editors just add on to sonic or what ever needing help with the base.
Plus its not art because they didn't really make it, Like I said before its just adding on or moving around, no effort really. just think about it, even if you get permission from sega its not really going to matter if you give credit or not sheezy art doesn't allow edits on ere any way, even in one of the cast members journals she stated that they're not allowed, coming from a cast member meaning you have to listen to it or get banned forever, even if you make another account trying to get away from the ban they'll just match your IP adress and perm ban you.
Its just not worth it dude.

It's been going on for too long. You're one voice at the moment saying something. Besides, if you did want to try and fix this, you'd have to get the support from ALL the spriters and ex-spriters, and be able to convince them that people should stop flaming.

Ignoring the people who flame you guys because they think there is a war or something going on, the real reason so much hate is directed towards edits, recolours and even sonic fan characters is because making stuff like that says something about you.
It says that you are a complete failure. Look in your gallery and you will find that you're not an expert spriter and your ideas aren't the least bit original. I wouldn't even call you a regular spriter.
Much like someone who wears a furrsuit, a emo kid with too much make up or someone who draws childporn... It's just not acceptable and people will hate you for it. Technically you're allowed to all those things but that doesn't really make it okay.
Fan characters are a very touchy thing, sometimes they can be done right and are okay. Though for the most part they are a horrible idea and should be avoided. If you're going to make a fancharacter, don't make it another sonic one. The world has enough of those already and if you really do like the sonic series stop contributing to the plague that is sonic fancharacters.
I actually loved the sonic series all the way up to Sonic Adventure Battle 2, I even had sonic and knuckles comics but I'm gonna show it a little respect by not ruining it with pieces of shit fanart no one cares about.
People hate sonic because of people like you, the editors, recolours and custom fan characters.
I flame recolours the same as I'd flame anyone else acting like an idiot.
If you make a custom sprite that sucks and someone tells you that it sucks... Well good job, you're not a recolour BUT that isn't something you shouldn't be congratulated for. This is expected of everyone.
If your character resembles a green sonic, then you are in the end still a green sonic whether you did the actual art or not. It is also possible to steal designs too you know.
Sure design theft is a step up from art theft, but it's not much better.
