Cosmetology College that is! xD At Educators of Beauty. FINALLY! Some good news for a change! I've wanted to be a cosmetologist for as long as I can remember. Every since I was a little girl, I always loved doing people's hair, putting on make up and doing it to my mom and my friends as well! When I was young, I'd have slumber parties with all my friends and we'd all give each other facials, do hair, do make-up, etc...and now I'm finally getting to live one of my dreams! I start school June the 2nd!
Today I had a meeting with the Director of Admissions. Her name is Jessica and she was really HELPFUL and so awesome! She helped me set up everything for my financial aid and I qualified for pell grants! Woohoo!! She showed me everything in regards to taking out a student loan which was really helpful for me since I'm new to all of this. She showed me everything about the campus and gave me paperwork on what all I'm going to be doing. It works out perfectly too because I'll be doing night classes! Woohoo! Hubby works first shift, then I'll go to school from 4:30-9:30pm. He gets home around 4 and doesn't go to bed until around 10:30 or 11, so he'll be home with Logan and I'll get to go to school with no worries about my son! How AWESOMESAUCE is that!? Anyway, my course is 1500 hours and the school is with the Pivot Point Program which makes things even better for after I graduate and get a job! Woohoo! Basically here is a list of everything I'll be doing. The courses are split up 750 hours each and I have a Level I and II course.

At the end of my Level II course, I get to do College In-Salon Training and gather a clientele and I'm required to get so many clients, work so many hours on the floor and make so much in sales for the school. That'll consist of me doing this:

College In-Salon Training
-Work at least 110 hours per month
-Service a minimum of 43 clients per month
-Generate service sales of at least $600 per month
-Up-sell to generate an average ticket sale of $20 plus per model per month
-Distribute my business card to everyone I come in contact with
-Have a minimum of 26 model requests per month
-Generate retail sales of at least $120 or 50 products per month
-Re-book every model

That's everything! A lot huh? xD but it'll be so worth it and so fun! Once I complete school, I'll have to travel to Rockford and take my board tests to get my Cosmetology License. Once I have that, then I can go out into the world and get a job, which actually I already have one lined up thanks to a really good friend of mine who manages a salon close to where hubby works and promised she'd have a place for me when I was all done with school! My heart keeps leaping in my chest I'm so excited! This is FINALLY happening for me guys! I'm so overjoyed! My friends and family are all super excited for me and so supportive of me, especially my husband. I'm just so glad something is finally happening for me!

I just hope you don't end up taking three classes in one semester >>; even regulars to my college have trouble with three classes at once.

PantherChick Says:

lol. Good luck. I'm in college now, and it takes up almost all your time. And it will take a lot out of you, especially creatively.

Wifeofnaraku Says:

Oh sweet! My sister is in Cosmetology school so I know how that is.
(and learning all that crap that's in make-up. Good thing I use make-up only from Bodyshop. )
Good luck!
