Often times in our society, there are some who say violent media,be it games, songs,TV shows,or movies, makes people violent. I disagree. There's only one thing that really makes people violent. Other people.
Case in point, last Friday,I'm walking in the mall and I got my digicam cause I wanna try out some picture taking and see if I can't develop a talent for it. At one point,I pop up my arm and quickly take a pic without looking throug the viewfinder or the miniscreen to see how well I can do it. For those candid shots you do to annoy your friends, you know.
So I snap the pic and this woman who happened to be there, just a random person, starts in on me. First, she wants to know why I'm taking her picture. A reasonable question, but she said it in a rather accusing manner that just told me this one was a nutjob.
So I try to explain to her that I'm trying to see how well I can take pics without looking, but she's just on some kind of bender about how you should ask permission to take someone's picture first. Even after I show her that A) the picture's too blurry to see anything and whether or not she's even in it would be a question for better detectives than I and B) said picture was then deleted because of the aforementioned blurriness, she just keeps on it.
So,not really feeling like explaining to this obviously deranged woman that her rights in the matter begin and end with the picture itself and that since it no longer exists, neither does her right to say what I can do with my camera,I instead just walk away, content to just let it go.
The whole thing reminded me of this radio interview that was posted on Something Awful in which the head scientology guy just absolutly will not take a fucking hint and shut up. Granted, she didn't get to the screaming part, but I get the feeling if I'd hung around and explained things to her,it would've ended that way.
So I'm walking and a bit later,2 security guards and a cop stop me and tell me I have to put the camera away because it "offended someone". Think about that,3 guys had to come over to me,surround me,just to tell me to put away my camera. You gotta wonder what the fuck she told them.
So I take the path of least resistance largely because none of them looked too sure of themselves and the last thing I want to do is get into an arguement with a nervous guy with a gun and tell them I'll leave the camera with my folks who were there with me. They let it go at that and I finished my rounds.
So,after telling my folks about, they agreed she was a nut. In the end, those guys, all of them holding a job in which they protect people in some form or another, pissed off 3 regular customers to their place of business for 1 psycho bitch whom I've never seen before in all the time I've gone to that mall.
Ultimatly,it's people like this, with no tolerence for others and very little consideration, who make life a little less fun for everyone and will,in the end, plunge humanity into the abyss for no good reason other than they're fucking stupid, but for some reason, people in authority positions listen to them. The only consolation I have is knowing that they'll be the first ones against the wall when the revolution comes.
