...And expect me to be in one of those many large riots.
They better not pass something as heartless as this...
Artists need their freedom and shouldn't be living in fear of having their art stolen and being forced to pay money for EVERY character and piece of artwork.
I never cared for the government...but I wont even give them a tiny piece of respect after this. (I'm just paranoid.)
This is terrible, I can't believe they'd revoke copyrights and make them register with the govt. It just feels like thy're taking away freedom of self expression though art, because anyone would be able to claim it's theirs. If this goes through, it's bye bye for any of my art on the net.
i signed the petition at deviant art already and i'm going to doing the same as you with the journal, people must here about this ridiculous bill that i have no clue got passes for consideration
It's not legalizing art theft. It's only encourages the artist to put a signature on their artwork and a form of contact on their art gallery or website. This is actually to help prevent it. They call it "orphaned" for a reason. Because there is no signature on the artwork and/or form of contact around the artwork. It's nothing to freak out about. This is just a misunderstanding. It's actually good for an artist. It does encourage them to add credit to their art and to leave contact information. It doesn't mean that you must copyright it. The signature and form of contact is enough. I was freaked out about this 'til I read what it was really about. I don't remember the page or I would show you.

I don't think you have to pay for creative commons, though. That says that your art can be used for anything but commercial use.
