-I try to imitate others way too much. I do not have much faith in my own ability to come up with a style of drawing/painting that I and others will be pleased with so I use other's techniques as a crutch to keep my head above the proverbial water.

I need to just dive in and stop giving up on a drawing part of the way through.

I need to allow others to look at my stuff before it it finished.

I need to not worrying about finishing everything.

I need to upload more sketches and more of my realism to show I'm not just another anime artist.

I need to actually start to draw this comic that's been in my head for years without worrying whether or not people will like it.

I need to stop worrying whether or not the stuff that comes out of my head looks perfect. It will eventually.

I need to stop comparing my work to others I know. I'm an artist and it's a success just to be one. Who cares if someone got more recognition that I did. (no I'm not talking internet drama..)

On a completely different note..

Nothing wrong with being "just another" anime artist. Just because it appears to be popular doesn't mean you can't like it too. Anime is a wide and varied style in and of itself and makes use of many other artistic elements, depending on the artist. [I personally have a weakness for the artbook stuffs that steals from Art Nouveau - particularly CLAMP and some of the Grandia artworks]

You don't have to do realism to defend what you like or defend your artistic skills. You do realism because... well, either you like it or its required by your classes. Picasso could draw realism. Extremely well. Just because he chose not to doesn't make him "just another abstract artist".

Be proud of the art you have. You are a talented artist of many mediums, styles and techniques.
