Ok so the new Nancy Drew movie just came out on DVD, and I wasn't a fan of it when it came out in theaters and over time I kind of forgot about it but now that is out again all my feelings have resurfaced.

I would like to start off by saying I am a HUGE Nancy Drew fan! I have most of the books, I just need about 50 or so more to complete my collection (For those of you that don't know there are over 400 books in all) I've also read around 50 or so of them and I am working on one day (probably when I’m like 60) to read every single one of the books. So I believe I know Nancy’s character pretty well

In the new movie they turned Nancy into a narrow minded and completely stupid ditsy teenager that seems as if she has a stick up her butt.

The wonderful thing about the 'true Nancy' is that she is constantly being renewed and updated but this movie just brought her back to the 60's (I would have understood 1930's but 1960's??? Doesn’t make since).

In the movie Nancy has brown eyes and hair when anyone who knows anything about Nancy would know that Nancy’s hair has always been strawberry blond and then it is sometimes depicted as being blond but it has never been BROWN! And her eyes have ALWAYS been blue, I don't see why they couldn't have given Emma contacts to change her eye color and I bit of a die job, or even a wig could have worked!

Nancy's father would NEVER tell his daughter that she can no longer sleuth. He knows that it would be impossible to enforce it and he also knows that sleuthing is her passion.

I can’t believe that Bess and George were left back in River Heights! And I also couldn't believe that they gave George BLONDE HAIR! She has ALWAYS had dark short sometimes curly hair! ALWAYS!

I don't believe that ANY of the cast did any research on their characters and I believe that because Nancy has been around since the 1930's the movie should appeal to children as well as the adults that grew up reading the books.

The only character that was mostly portrayed correctly would have to be Ned. He has always been on the backburner and is walked allover but he continues to stick around. But Ned also has BROWN hair not blondish brown and he sometimes has brown eyes and sometimes they are blue.

The BIGGEST thing that I can’t believe they did was they stunted all of their ages! Nancy was only 16 for a few books and then they were updated and she became 18.

Emma couldn't even drive while shooting the movie, which brings up another HUGE error! Nancy has ALWAYS been known for her car, she first had a little blue roadster, which then turned into a red mustang (Secrets Can Kill) which then blew up, and she got the latest mustang and now she has a little blue hybrid. Nancy has ALWAYS had the latest high fashion car and to give her a, yes very cute but impractical, roadster is another setback to the movie.

When Nancy first met Ned he was a student at Emerson collage! And played on the football, baseball, and basketball teams. I really don't see this version of Ned in collage. . .

All in all they ages were too young and this movie only appealed to tweens and its plot was shaky and research wasn't done do much of an extent. In other words; it sucked. ~Ani
