So, my mom and I were on our way to pick up my boyfriend, then head up to college. We were driving along, singing along to her Gretchen Wilson CD, when the car started sliding.
This caught us completely off-guard, especially since it was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Usually when the car slides, I freak out and my mom says, "It's OK, I'm in control of the car."
But this time she started freaking out too.
As soon as I realized that she wasn't trying to calm me down, I started to just pray out loud. "Please Lord, keep us safe!"
Thank you Lord. You kept us safe. We're OK, just some minor stuff. My right thigh is sore and I'll probably have a bruise on it, my nose is a little cut, and my right shoulder/side of neck are sore. My mom's right arm is sore as well.
We swerved all over the road - thank You again, Lord, that there was no one else coming! We were stopped by a fence on the opposite side of the road, and almost went down the embankment there. My door and window were smashed, my mom's seat was broken (it's now fully reclines and a bit twisted), and the windshield was cracked.
We stayed in the car for a few minutes, hurrying to call anyone we could think of. My mom called my step-dad, I tried to get a hold of my boyfriend and my friends. Luckily, both of us succeeded.
I got out of the car through my mom's door once my step-dad got down to us, and went straight into the van from there (slipping on the road all the way). We started going down the hill (away from our house), and saw that school buses and other cars had pulled over. We eventually pulled over in someone's empty driveway until we saw a cop go by. (I had called 9-1-1 while we were driving)
We followed the cop back up to the accident site, but when we got there, he wasn't. o0; (I guess he turned up a street first) We pulled into a driveway up there, and waited for him to come back. We got out of the van when he did come back, and he pulled up to the end of the driveway and asked us about the accident.
After we were done talking to the cop, we went back home. And we're staying here. oo;
We also found out from the cop that 1) the main road at the bottom of hill was all backed up, and 2) There was a State of Emergency declared. Of course, they couldn't call it BEFORE we left the freakin' house. D:<
Oh, yeah, about the OUTSIDE of the car... my mom's/driver's side looks OK, but my/passenger's side... well, let's just say this: when we got out of the van to talk to the cop, I looked at my door and said, "Oh, my God, I can't believe I survived that." I'm amazed that with how crushed my door was, I don't at least have a broken leg. *Sighs*
I've been thanking God ever since it happened that He kept us safe. If you saw the car, you too would be thanking some higher power that no one was killed. I happen to be a Christian, so my deity of choice is Christ.
Anyways, just thought I'd share all that with you, especially seeing as my last journal was from over 6 months ago.
*Hugs all* I'm OK.
