ust wanted to say that.....

I had an epiphany today....

I realized, I have been sitting on my high and mighty horse for far too long and its time I get back to the factories.

My-Art-Sucks. My inking, my anatomy, shading, coloring everything about my art, I SEE that they SUCK!! And I hate this.

I want YOU!! My watchers, to help me on my quest to get better. Critic me, burn me, roast me, stab my spirit, soul, hopes and hearts with the cruelest comments you can think of about my art next time. I need some sort of HEARTBREAKING critics on my art to improve.

But I dont want random flaming. I want reasons WHY you think its a shit job.

Please! I beeeeg of youuuuu~ *gets on knees* Art has a 70% possibility of being my main career in the future and I desperately want to improve so that I can be one of the best. Unlike some of you out there, I dont have much other options of career for me since....well.....I suck at everything else. Other than making money and doing investments of course... ka-ching!!! BUT!! I dont want to sit in front of the tv and computer everyday of my life staring at the stocks prices and making calls!!

I want to do something I enjoy which happens to be this! So I really want to improve. I'm gonna move onto realism more often now. I've started doing realism a year ago but I realize I didnt improve much on it since I've been so into anime art.

I'm planning of uploading some of the things I did on realism onto a diff account. I dont wanna mix up my fanarts and realism lol....heh.... =(

But please!!! Dont go with the usual 'nice work' for me anymore. Sure...it'll still be nice once in awhile when my spirit breaks enough But I want some major critics which I can base off and improve on. Sites, links anything from you guys to help me will improve >_> I'm even looking at coloring tutorials now as I speak....

And to prevent this journal from going any longer....I'll stop now D: But any roasts from you guys are appreciated <80

MWXIII Says:

Well I find the fastest way to improve is to copy a load of pics =\ well that's my method hope it helps

SrphmWlfYng Says:

I don't think your art sucks, but I'm sure I can give some creative critism.....I agree with MWXIII, try copying a few poses from other works, that helps me

Dark Faerie Aleu Says:

...umm...how can we critic you on how horrible you did when it freaking rockz?

But here's what I do...

Look at other people's style and try to copy theres. After mastering their style copy another style. Keep doing that until you feel you are ready to create your own style. Fan art, posters, models, photographs...everything and anything. Just make sure to change it up a bit. You cannot steal their work. Or if you don't change it make sure you reference and site who and where you got it from.

deidaraart5 Says:

I'll try my best to give u the critisism u want! but i never found a reason to because u'r art is great already!

I have no issue in giving friendly criticism.
Whenever I see a piece of your art and I find something wrong with it, X3 I'll point it out.
*Thumbs up*

DGrayGirl Says:

BREAK OUT THE REFERENCE BOOKS. THE MANGA, THE MANGA FOR DUMMIES, HOW TO DRAW MANGA, SHONEN JUMP, EVERYTHIN!! that ish all. :3

Singol Darkwood Says:

I'll help to the best of my abilities, I promise... though I'll try to be a little nicer than roasting your soul to a delectable medium rare for consumption.

Furya Says:

man im no help at all
ok hows about u try other ppls style and try creating ur own?im still currently doing that but still find myself conflicted between shojo and shonen styles

TomPreston Says:

weeeell.... i know you probably don't want to hear this, but one of the best ways to get better is to draw from life and not from Anime. A truly great artist can draw in many distinct styles at the drop of a hat. So drawing more from life, observing nature, anatomy, etc, could all help you out.

As much as I hate to contradict other people's great suggestions, books like "How to draw manga" are not going to help you. They might have a few tips, but sadly most of the information is about drawing in someone else's style rather than your own. People think that if you just put big eyes on a character it's "anime" or something, and that's a complete fallacy. You can't learn it if you don't understand the basics first (such as anatomy, perspective and line weight).

Getting a book on Anatomy would be helpful instead. If you really think that's where you're struggling, work on it! If you notice you have trouble drawing hands, work on hands for a while. Feet? Draw feet as many times as you can. Don't worry about screwing up, that's part of the learning curve. It's ok to mess up and make work that doesn't uh work! lol. I bought an anatomy book because I have a really hard time drawing Women's hips. The anatomy there is just so completely different than a man's and it took me alot of work to get something close to what I liked. Pose-able drawing figures are also a cheaper way to go instead of spending alot on books...

It might seem a bit far-fetched, but take a look at alot of Disney art, specifically the rough sketches. They are artists who know how to create characters in perfect form. Also look at anything which you think might help you. I found alot of help from Frank and Ollie's great animation book "The Illusion of Life" even for my own illustrations.

Bottom line is don't stick to one thing. Don't stick with anime. Explore different styles, drawing habits, pencils, study from life (i can't stress that enough) and just keep at it. I'm only 25 and I don't think my art is where it should be (though you can judge for yourself by checkin' out my gallery) so i'm sure you've got a ways to go till you become happy with what you've got. It takes alot of trial, error, patience, and the willingness to not get discouraged.

I hope that helped... i haven't seen enough of your art yet to give a better suggestion of advice. ;
