I definitely missed posting when I'd been drawing for a year. Totally was going to draw something for that or whatever and completely forgot about it. Darn Nano!
Hehe, I started drawing about a year ago at the beginning of November. I was in economics, bored out of my mind, and had just reached the end of a good book that I hadn't expected to finish that day. Considering this was only the fourth class of the day and I started it that morning, you know it was an awesome book.
Anyway, we were watching some evil video that had a chicken ranting about the business cycle... and I didn't really want to watch it so I started trying to find something to do. I had my computer but wasn't allowed to open it at all, and didn't feel like starting to reread the book since I had lunch right afterwards (and as soon as a friend realized that I had already finished she was so claiming the book from me, which she did).
One of my friends was sitting besides me drawing, happened to glance up, saw me bored, so she poke me and pointed to the computer paper piled up on the counter besides me (I was at the edge of the classroom. End of the alphabet and all), thus commenced a mimed argument about me not having a pencil and not being able to unzip my backpack to get one without the teacher realizing I was off task, which ended in her yanking out the pencil that was holding up my hair (I have really thick curly blond hair, so the only way to put it up without breaking hair ties is to just twist it up and stick a pencil through it)
At that point I gave in, flipped over a quiz we had just gotten back graded from the teacher and started drawing. It ended up being a pair of pixies, I still have the picture on my computer, and gods have I come a long way from that.
So if it wasn't for boredom in AP Economics I wouldn't have started drawing! Since that's the only thing I got out of that class I guess at least I have one reason to have taken it.
I'm tempted to redraw the picture once Nano is over (colored and all) and upload that with a link to the first picture. It would be kinda neat to compare (for me at least)
If anyone happens to come to this and actually read through my ramblings, how'd you start drawing?

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but my first clear memory of drawing something recognisable would be Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in sixth grade -- 1988-89, methinks.
