Want a quick way to get some speed increase in Windows XP?

We usually do this to computers at work that have 256mb ram and Windows XP, in some cases this can make your computer look like it's running faster.

What you do is Right click My Computer on your desktop (or in your start menu) then click Properties, click on the Advanced tab then click Settings in the Performance box. Then click on the Adjust for best performance choice. Now you can leave it like this but themes will be disabled. So we usually enable the following which will give a speed increase while making it look like it used to.

Tick the following:

- Smooth edges of screen fonts
- Use common tasks in folders
- Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons

You can enable others but the main one "Fade or slide menus into view" is what makes it appear that your computer is taking longer to do something, when it's actually just playing the animation. Plus depending on your computer it may have trouble with the fade animation and cause it to pause for a bit before playing the animation.

Click ok and exit anything else I told you to open, now see how you go.

I got Zelda Phantom Hourglass the other day, and am loving it. To me the other handheld Zelda games just didn't have the same feel as the 64, GC and Wii Zelda games, but this one has the same feel imo.

And the fact that they've gone and used every feature of the DS in the game (blowing into the mic, pen, etc) makes it much more interesting. Definitely a must get if you're into Zelda.

Speaking of Zelda I bought a Master Sword the other day for $150, damn heavy though, about 5kg, which doesn't sound like much but the Master Sword being a one hander doesn't go well

I'm planning on getting the shield one day as it's wall mountable and is also used as a wall mount for the sword.

where did you get it? D=

Byte Says:

For the true Zelda fan, your own evil banishing blade!
Looks pretty nice, I dont know if I'd shell out $150 for it though.

OmegaUltima Says:

Oh dude, my bro stole my ram, D:. So I'm down to 256mb from 1gig

DoomRater Says:

MY green boffer sword is how I would look at the Master Sword, not how they have it built. OF course, mine is a bastard sword, not a longsword (much longer handle!)

Jeffk38uk Says:

Thats geekdom right there, buying a sword from the zelda franchise. It looks extremely sweet though.

Tamua Says:

hmm...about 11 lbs...yeah that would be kind of bad as a one-hander but were you dead set on using it as a sword should be, you'd get very used to it...

besides two handed allows for more power :3

Cat Megex Says:

Niiiiice. (The sword)
