So today I went to get my lenses, but yet again I have to wait until Friday.
Anyways, we walked around downtown for a bit, and we went to this pet shop that is a few steps away from where I used to study in college.
As we walked close to it, you could hear HUNDREDS of chirps. They had a super small cage and they stuffed about
40-50 baby chicks.
Here you can see:
It was really sad. You can see on the lower left they are really being squeezed.
They paint them bright colors to make kids want them even more.
I do like the colors, but I really hope they used something that doesn't hurt them.
The temperature outside was AT LEAST 95 fahrenheit. And they were all outside under the sun. That is so damn abusive.
The owner didn't care at all.
I couldn't help it but wish I could pick them all and take them home.
I managed to buy two, they sell them for
just a dollar each.
Last year, they sold them for just 25 cents, as if they were just some sort of worthless object.
I will upload a bunch of nice pictures of them today and tomorrow hopefully. AND hopefully, I will be able to get a few more baby chicks on Friday... that would make me happy.
Anyways.
They had a little dog in another cage in the outside, next to the little baby chicks.
The dog was all laying down, breathing fast.
He had no bowl for food, only one for water, and it was empty. He was so thirsty. He had a little bottle, one of those that he has to push so the little ball moves back and it lets a small amount of water come out. But the puppy doesn't know how that works.
We told the owner, and he said
"Well, he has some water in that thing."
We said "He has no food and he doesn't know how to drink from that."
"Well, he isn't dead, so he is okay." He just simply said.
It is sad to see people do that. Even more the people at pet stores.
They sell that dog(and many others) for more than 200 dollars, and they don't spay or neuter them or offer vaccines.
They just sell them as objects and close the cage with big key locks. If something serious happened and they lost the key and needed to take the poor puppies out, they would have no way of taking them out.
By the way, sadly here most animal abuse cases are ignored. I can't call the police. Even if I tried, they would do nothing.
Most of the police force here is corrupt, just a few weeks ago more than 25 police officers were put in jail for things like:
-Killing people or beating them
-Kidnapping for money
-Car jacking
-Selling illegal weapons
-Escorting drug dealers and drugs
-Fabricating cases to innocent people and putting drugs and weapons in their house/cars
So yeah... it sucks. This animal abuse happens everywhere here and the government, nor the police cares at all =/
I'm going to post soon a long journal about the things that happen here; you won't believe half of it.
This place sucks =(

THIS PLACE SUCKS GOD, KILL THAT MAN, KILL HIM DAMMIT! If he fuck DOSENT care ABOUT LIFE of other living creatures, may he DIE! Im so mad and sad to know that this happens everywhere on earth dammit. Poor creatures...DAMMIT! Why cant they be freed into the nature, somewhere faraway from humanity and their damn stupidness. They deserve love and affection, not being trapped in cages like that...
chronophotos Says:
I think thats cruel to animals, I am not so up in arms as Megaraphotos is. However it is cruel that they would do something like that to the animals which mankind was meant to take care of in the first place. However those colorful chickens look awesome. Probally not healthy but still look cool.
Gatowithagun Says:
It is sad. Though they do look neat colored.. the reason for the shop owner doing that is...er, evil. He just wants to get money and doesn't care what happens to the animals... because, it's more likely little kids will handle them roughly and they'll end up dead pretty damn soon. And that poor doggie... the least that shithead man could do is make sure it has enough food and water (and knows how to get access to the water
) I'm glad you saved Dilbert and Milton!
Poor animals, that's really sad. Sadder still the places they get those animals from in the first place.
People like that don't care to take good care of animals...it'd cost him time and more money to put the chicks in a bigger cage or multiple smaller seperate cages.
I can't believe they sell the ckicks for a buck. That just makes them seem disposable really to people. Something that can easiy be replaced for nothing. If I saw something like that here I'd buy as many as I can and find a good farmer or someone who keeps chickens or something.
Take pictures of the store front and the arse guy running it and post them for all the world to see with photo's and your story about how they are mistreated.
Maybe people won't go there if they see.
What happens when those chicks grow up? Are they then dinner? Thrown out? Killed and disposed of? Will they even make it that long? grrr
The blue and orange ones are so cute lol I hope that stuff doesn't harm them.
MrFlameThrower Says:
Call PETA. And the police.
Merina Says:
Damn, you should call the police, this is fucking horrible.

jefflover Says:
REPORT THEM TO THE LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY!!
The police can help, too, that's fucking nuts!!
Randi and Ryan Forev Says:
What you need to do is contact PETA.
PETA will surely organize some sort of small-time protest at least.
Let me know, I'm a member, but I probably live too far away from you.
I can still contact the president.
glasblau Says:
That's really terrible, I know most people don't care about animals anymore :(
I wish there was more that people could do about it..
