Well, gang, the 2007 San Francisco Zinefest has come and gone. I was there, peddling my comic
Happy Freak Show. This year, it was in its new location, the Women's Building in the Mission District. I found it more convenient than its previous location, CellSpace, which was way south of Mission. There was a new schedule, too. Instead of Saturday and Sunday, it was Friday and Saturday. I was almost afraid I wouldn't be able to make the Friday afternoon! Anyway, I got a good spot to set up. I was right by the doorway, so my banner was the first thing you could see on the way in! I was sharing my table with Cantara Christopher of cantaraville.com. That's an online literary journal in PDF format. At the next table was Joe Sayers, who draws the comic strip "Thingpart", and also does the strip "The Machine That Travels Through Time" for
Mad Magazine. Anyway, it was a good experience. I got to see a good many familiar faces, both exhibiting and buying. Friday was kinda slow, though. Probably because it's still kind of a weekday. I did make sales, though. Today was much busier. Sales were brisker. I had people coming up who had already purchased my comics in the past. A good many looky-loos too. But I made some big sales. One guy came before the Zinefest closed, and said my comic was the reason he had come. He bought one copy of each issue I had! In the end, I made nearly a hundred dollars! It was definitely a good weekend, and I'm looking forward to next year's SFZ!
