Hydroelectricity is accomplished by pressurising a certain about of water through pumps; this water is pushed through the pumps, which provides energy for a turbine to spin. A turbine can weigh up to 172 tons and turn at a rate of 90 revolutions per minute (rpm). The water is forced through these spinning turbines and a generator uses this energy to create electricity.


Hydroelectric power dose not produce carbon dioxide and aquatic life may be breed in the dams, however the land used can no longer be lived on; this may be a loss in agricultural land.
