Well, it's been about a month since my employment agency got me an assignment. It can get a bit nerve-wracking when dry spells like this happen. But I have been looking for work on my own. Fortunately, I had a job interview this morning! I had applied for a position at a law firm as a receptionist. After E-mailing my resume Monday evening, I got called yesterday morning, and the interview was set up for today. I had to fill out an online application before that. There were a number of questions I had to answer, like what sector of law my past work experiences dealt with. And almost none of them had anything to do with law!
Anyway, I went in this morning. I found out that the law firm was part of a larger group of businesses. The interview went pretty well. Eventually, they decided I'd fit better in an office instead of a law firm. They even have a creative branch, so my artistic background got some attention. Anyway, I got tested at a computer to see my skills in typing and office programs. Then I was sent home. They're going to touch base with my references, and then they'll get back to me.
In the end, it appears that I've signed on with another temp agency. But I guess it's just as well. The one I was with already hasn't found me a permanent position after a year. So I might have better luck with this one!
