For those of you who don't know, I'm running a Warhammer 40,000 demo on September 29th. I'm the miniatures chairperson for GAPS, Penn State's gaming club. That's why I've been putting so much time into my models lately, and you've seen the results - the trees, buildings, lander, and hopefully, two Tyranid units. I'm working on a bunch of spore mines right now that should probably be done sometime tonight, and I have a squad of ten Termagaunts that need to be finished by next Saturday as well. I have a few things to clean up with my terrain as well, but as for now the only thing that needs done with it is to paint the area terrain bases. They're just pieces of cardboard covered in sand, but they aren't painted. They'd look a lot nicer if they were painted, and they'd be a little less abusive on the other terrain pieces they share a box with. They're like big sheets of sandpaper, really. I'm hoping to have about ten people at the demo next weekend, and depending on the response, I'll be putting together a campaign or tournament later in the semester. I'd prefer a campaign, but a tournament would work too. I just need to make it so beginning players with small armies would be able to play. So, if anyone reading this attends Penn State or lives in the area, come to the West Halls study lounge in Waring Commons after 4:00 PM for a good time.
Demo weekend aside, this weekend may just be more fun. I'll be attending my first event with my re-enacting unit, the 37th Guards Rifles Division. We'll be putting on at least a living history display in Middletown, and there's still a chance it could become a tactical. There will be pictures, and perhaps a video, so stay tuned.
