Introduction

I'm making this for the mis-informed. Whatever you think you know about emo is probably wrong.

Lesson One: Music (Part I)

If you think you listen to emo music, you probably don't. Emo is not a real genre of music. It used to described the lyrical content of some early harcore bands in the 80's (Emotive Hardcore).

Lesson Two: Emo Kids

If you think you are or know someone who is emo, your wrong. There faux emo, or pseudoemo. True emo culture is actually just a part of the hardcore punk culture. It has nothing to do with fashion.

Lesson Three: Music (Part II)

Screamo is a sub-genre or Emotive Hardcore. If you think you listen to screamo, you probably don't. Every band that today that screams is thrown under the screamo genre. Most are not actually screamo. Real screamo is hard to come by these days.

Final Words

Emo is not a type of music. Emotive Hardcore was used to describe lyrics in the 80's. Kids who claim to be emo are not. Bands like MCR are not emo or screamo. Fuck fashion.
