Damm Yankees- "High Enough"

Today our town had a festival at the park. I go to swing and there is this teenage boy who is autistic or at least mentaly challanged. His voice isn't as deep as that of a normal young man and as soon as he started talking these other teenage kids started giggling and calling him names like "gay" and "fag" to his face. Everyone in the town knows him and he will talk to ANYONE wheither he knows them or not. He may have a teenager's body but he does not have a teenager's mind. He had his face painted and this girl says, "You like balloons or something, Ricky?" Why didn't you get a flag?" All the swings were taken so he politely asks if he can have one. No one would so I said, "Sure, Ricky you can have mine." This girl who was right next to me screamed, "No! Don't do it!" as if the boy was going to kill me. I ignored her. She then asks me what breed of dog my chihuahua is. I told her she was a chihuahua and then said, "Would you like to pet her, Ricky? Don't loose your swing." He told me what a nice little dog she is. The girl looked at me like, "What is she thinking?" and as soon as I left they easily talked him into giving up his swing. How can people be that mean?
