So now we have banner ads.
And the first thing I see from everybody here is 'OMG! It's turning into DA!'
And I just have to sit and laugh. Because I called it. I soooooo called it.
What in the hell do you people think a site like this runs on? AIR?! *laughs madly*
No. Believe it or not, ladies and germs, but Channel Cat, founder of SA, needs
MONEY to keep the server space available and the bandwidth running so you all can keep freeloading off of her.
Oh, don't get your knickers in a twist. That's what you're doing. I'm doing it too. You're freeloading. Mooching off someone elses good graces. You aren't paying to be here. You aren't doing work for Channel Cat in return.
You. Are. Freeloading.
Oh, what's that? Why not put the banner ads on the bottom so they're not up there flashing at you and annoying you? Why not put them down and on the lower side where you don't have to look at them?
Because, my dear fellow SAers, that would be counterproductive.
If you don't see them, you won't click them.
If you don't click them, then SA doesn't get any -MONEY-.
And if SA doesn't get any money, then you can kiss the site goodbye.
And the thing that gets me about all this is that I called it. I said it was going to happen, told everybody it wouldn't be long.
This is the way the world works, people. Computers and servers and bandwidth are -far- from cheap. And if you ain't willing to shell out the money to pay for it, then it's gonna have to come from somewhere else.
So, boys and girls... you don't like the ads, hunh? Well, there's a very easy way to fix that!
Take that money you were saving up to buy City of Heroes or Worlds of Warcraft or whatever and buy yourself some server space. Put all your lovely art there and you'll never have to worry about ads ever, ever again~
Perhaps then you'll come to appreciate what running a place like this entails.

*shrug* To be honest the ads don't bother me. I come to Sheezy to chat to friends, upload art *crickets chirp* and read and post comments. The ads don't get in my way. And you're right. With all the wonderful stuff we get from sheezy (including loads of features that DA doesn't give you unless you subscribe) I THINK we can all put up with a few little ads no?
They're better than pop-ups....REMEMBER THAT
