So, today at character and object design class some peoples started talkin' about Venom. They all agreed that the one portrayed in the movie was SUCK.

I kinda liked what they did to him, jus' makin' him an annoying guy.

Anyway, they compared him to his comic-book counterpart, which for some reason, no one knows his "true" origin!

A lot of people have seen the Spider-man cartoon, where J.J.J.'s son goes to the moon or whatever. Thats the cartoon version. In the comics it was entirely different, but it wasnt translatable to film.

So, I decided to enlighten ya'll with a little diagram!

The secret wars!

During the secret wars, Spidey's suit was ruined and he needed a new one. He kinda liked Spider-womans sleek design (and who wouldn't?).



So Peter started pokin' around.



From one of the compartments came the black goop!



TA-DA!


After the whole secret wars thing was done, Spidey returned to New York feeling better than ever!



The new black suit did everything for Pete!



But some strange occurances began to... OCCUR! From time to time, Spider-man would act jerky and rude to his elders and totally hot would-be-girlfriend! He would wake up swingin' around town with no recolection of how he got there!



Around this time, Peter Parker (along with... Spider-man!) where uncovering new-comer Eddie Brock of doin' some bad things. In any case, he lost his job.




Pete took the black goop to either Reed or Prof. Connors, I don't remember, anyway...

The symbiote fed off of adrenaline, s'why Spidey was super hyper and easy to piss off. When he slept, the symbiote needed to feed so it went on little swings around town.

Knowing that the goop will eventually consume him, Pete decided to try out his new stereo.





At this very same moment, Eddie Brock was at the church where Spidey took his suit off. Eddie wanted to comit suicide but... Oh well, why don't you just read it?



And that's Venom!

There have been a lot of Venoms, some look more like McFarlane's Venom, which is more of a beffed up Spider-man with a big white grin.



Then there is the more widely used Venom that resembles the Hulk in mass.



Venom fought Spidey time and again until Spidey faked his death so Venom would leave him alone. Eddie then moved to San Francisco, as far away from New York as possible.

Little did he know..!

How cliche'...

Anyway, when Eddie was put in jail before moving to San Francisco, he had some time to think about things. He then purged all the "badness" that had come from his hatred or whatever.

He spawned another.


This is "Ultimate Carnage" mind youse. But that's another story.

Spidey and Venom had to team up to fight Carnage and his gang of ner'do wells. As well as when they had to fight all of Venom's other spawn... But thats another story still!

In the ultimate universe, Eddie Brock Jr. is Peter Parkers childhood friend. Both of their dad's where workin' on a cancer-curin' "suit" that would eradicate the cancer by... Making you purple and giving you super powers.

Obviously something went wrong. A few years later, Pete and Eddie "inherit" both their parent's research and they come across the suit. For a bit Pete uses it but then he starts to get a stupid "My head hurts all the time!" rash. He can't control the suit and decides to ditch it. Eddie finds out he is Spider-man and that he has "selfishly" been using their heritage.

Eddie, all mad and what-not wants revenge or something and he turns into Venom, who is no longer light/dark blue, but PURPLE:



Then there was some crap with Spidey containing some genetic information the suit needed to be complete and then Carnage crap... Oi.

I like the original better.

Venom has been The Punisher, Wolverine, Eddie's wife and most recently The Scorpion...

Eddie Brock has cancer, so he sold his symbiote to the highest bidder who happened to be...

Having the symbiote moves him from a "B-list" villain to a full-fledged A-lister.

So... Venom isnt really a bad guy. In fact, he's pretty self-righteus, but I guess some feel he has no real purpose if he isnt out hunting Spierman down. Oh, well at least he has a good, gooey inside. After he left for San Fransico he deemed himself "The Lethal protetor"



Then theres also the self-sacrificing side that no one cares about.

So in the end, Venom comes down to another "popular for a bit" misunderstood character. Whew! That was long.

I forgot about the symbiote planet!

There's a planet full of symbiotes. What the symbiotes do is latch unto a victim and drain them until they are nothingness.

Like in our society, on the symbiote planet there are rules and so forth.

The Venom symbiote was deemed "insane" for wanting to bond and help its host, rather than feeding on them. The Venom symbiote was banished and thats how it ended up where it did!
