I think more people chose diamond, so I'd go with pearl just because it's slightly less common.

So how hard is it to find the original starting Poke'Mon, Charmander and such, in the new games, not directly referencing your questioned games.

In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald you have to trade with FireRed and Leaf Green. All the Kanto and Jhoto Pokemon are in FR and LF, but some are only obtainable through e-Reader cards and shit, so you might have to use a Gameshark, because it's impossible to connect any of the the GBA Pokemon games with the older generations.

I'm not going to buy another Pokemon game until they reintroduce starter Pokemon from previous games into the wild, since the 4 or 5 Pokemon I actually like are mostly starters.
And then you have to get everstones.
Pokemon's so stale without Gameshark.

But, for you, I say get Diamond, because there's not many Pokemon games I have where Tyranitar is NOT on my team, he really kicks ass. Levelling Larvitar for ages is totally worth it. Diamond has Scyther too, and Scyther is fucking cool.
Speaking of Pokemon, I started over on Ruby last night. I chose a Mudkip lawl. Then again, I have Mudkip on Sapphire too, well, he's a level 100 Swampert now, but you know. I've made a mess of my new Ruby game though, since I hardly use my starter Pokemon, normally I have a starter Pokemon that's like, level 30 by the second gym leader, then everything else is level 10, but this time I just did the second gym leader, and my starter Pokemon is only like, level 15, and my Shroomish, Tailow, Zigzagoon, Poochyena are all stronger. D:
