Niko: Night of Fire

Sonic Racing game idea that I've had for awhile. If you were expecting Go-Karts...uhhhhh....

The premise: Sonic and friends are now all driving cars, real-world, licensed cars. Eggman's holding a race to prove the dominance of his new "Egg Driver" robot, and it's up to Sonic (again) to keep Robotnik in his rearview mirrors.

Races are conducted in various locales, different places and times. Touge battles, Wangan-style highway races, Street Circuits and road courses, Drift battles and time trials, all part of the run. Basic playthrough is similar to Electronic Art's more recent Need for Speed games, as you participate in races that pop up in a free roam mode throughout different regions, while the actual races are more like Genki's Kaido Battle and Shutoko Battle. Driving real world automobiles, and adding functional upgrades, along with fairly realistic (though no Gran Turismo, thankfully) physics is what separates this from less serious character racing games, like MarioKart and Crash Team Racing. There are Speed, Power and Fly characters, a trait since Sonic Heroes, but this time, it has more to do with the types of cars: Speed characters have ultra-fast cars, Power (Accel) characters have big Musclecars with fantastic acceleration, and Fly (Handle) Characters have light cars that grip the road like nobody's business. As well, Characters have nicknames, similar to those seen in Kaido Battle. No CG other than automobiles and roads in the game's cutscenes, basically like Initial D, if you've even seen that Anime.

After you beat Egg Driver, you'll be summoned by a mysterious "World Champ" to prove that you're really all that.
