Hey everyone, as always I hope yo're all safe and sound and well heart and soul. Anywho, main reason I have not done anything recently mainly because I have ventured back into the realm of college for the Spring semester of 2007. The main idea of the second semester in Animation is to explore outside the boundaries of the conventional paper & pencil. Experimentation. So, my classes are as follows.
Texts & Contexts: This is more of a Western Civilization course; Hebrews, Greeks, somethings on the Enlightenment (not the Renaissance) somethings on Romanticism and Transcendentalism. I'm going to like this course simply because I like philosophies of the old. Plus, we're gonna read Dr. Faustus later in the semester. The teacher's the dean of the Liberal Arts. The guy's a nut job and articulates every syllable like morning dew dripping upon the blades of green. I want to become this man.
Narrative Cinema: Same as last semester. We watch movies that are important to the world of cinema and history as we take notes. It's a three hour course, the movies can be either awesome or boring.
Intro to Computer Animation: Since I lack the skills thereof computer technology, I thought I would take a morsel of the elements to computer animation. However, it's the basics. It's Sebastion's class + Premiere. Which is fine with me since I have no skills of Illustrator or Photoshop.
Intro to Film & Digital Video: A film class overlooking movies every now and then and how to encompass the elements of basic cinematography into our assignments. I think we're going to be focusing more on Digital Video since many of the Bolexes have been on the fritz. Many internal malfunctions. The teacher's a veteran and I believe he might not have a sense of humor, specially toward animation majors. But ya gotta go with the flow.
Intro to Animation II: Possibly my favorite class, the main class. Experimentation. Pixelations, rotoscoping, painting on glass. Coloring on exposed film and have it produced. Think Brackage meets Pee-Wee's Playhouse. The teacher is incredible. Not only did he do shit for Pee Wee, but Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer and Big Time, Star Trek, and many others. He showed us the Oxberry camera and basic mechanics of special effects.
Anyway, I hope you're all doing alright. Take it easy.
Best Regards
