My major project for my degree is going to be a concept album consisting of 5 songs based on 5 different fairy tale heroines. The fairy tales are used here only as metaphors for 'real' psychological/emotional circumstances...

...for example, yesterday morning I wrote these lyrics for my first song 'Sleeping Beauty':

ever waiting for someone to wake her

little girl from a world in-between

snow undisturbed in the glow of the morning light

These lyrics will probably still change a bit as I haven't started recording anything yet, and usually when I start recording then the idea starts evolving a little bit (I'm sure you know what I mean - it must happen to all artists really!) :) I hope to start work on the instrumental backing later today. The melody is sweet, simple & pretty. And quite "fairy tale ish" in a way. :) I'm excited about this project. It's a challenge for me because I find lyric-writing difficult but I am passionate about fairy tales and of course I love songwriting... and I am so grateful to finally have a chance to show my tutors what I can do :) Up until now I feel my coursework has really been held back owing to lack of freedom! And now I have this chance to do whatever I want, however I want! *happyjoy*
