I feel like crying even though I've had the best few days of my life!

So on Tuesday, I went to the train station early in the morning to meet Sandyra and her mom. We spent two glorious days in New York City!

We went to the wax museum and to lunch during the day. Then we went to see the "historical" event entitled 'An Evening With Harry, Carrie, and Garp'. Authors Stephen King, John Irving, and the incomparable J.K. Rowling gathered at Radio City Music Hall to do a reading and discussion. Surprise guests Whoopie Goldbergh, Kathie Bates, and John Stewart were also there to introduce the authors. Whoopie opened the show. I was sure Danille Radcliffe would show up, but much to my dismay, he did not.

The other two authors are wonderful too, but J.K. Rowling was AMAZING!!!! I couldn't stop crying as she read a selection from book six of Harry Potter. She read from the chapter where Harry and Dumbledore go back to the memory of young Tom Riddle in the orphanage. She then went on to take questions...she made some interesting allusions to book seven.

For example, one girl asked what Hermione would see in the mirror of Arased. (don't know if I spelled that right)

"That's a good question." she replied. "I think she would see herself and the others alive and well at the end of book seven. But I also think she would see herself closely entwined with another."

Everyone started screaming!

Then someone asked if she ever went online to look at the fansites and if they had an effect on her as an author.

"For a while I could honestly say I didn't look at those. But then, on a bored afternoon, I decided to Google Harry Potter. My God! It was amazing! Some of these couples these people put together are just startling."

People started screaming out different couples. Someone yelled out James and Remus. She nodded and said,

"I rest my case."

Then someone asked if it might be possible for Draco Malfoy to redeem himself.

"You girls and Draco Malfoy." she said with a smirk as all the women screamed. "I believe anyone can redeem themselves. In Voldemort's case, however, I don't think there's much of a chance. Well, I'm no psychiatrist, but I think if a psychiatrist somehow disarmed Voldemort, got him into a room and got him to talk, I think he'd be classified as a psychopath. But yes, I think Draco has it in him to redeem himself because Harry believes, and so do I, that if he had been left to do the job himself, he would never have killed..." she paused again. "I don't want to give it away for those of you who are five pages from the end and are screaming, 'No! Please don't tell!' For those of you who have read the book you know what I mean. But I don't think he would have killed...the person in question."

There were more questions, but those are the only ones I can remember in their entirety.

So yeah...

After the show, we went to the stage door to try and get her signature. Stephen King and John Irving had just walked across the street to the Observation Deck for a party, so we decided that was the place we were most likely to see her. After a while, they shut the door and said to go home.

We went across the street to meet Sandyra's mom, and who walked out of the building? J.K. ROWLING!!!

::dies::

I didn't have time to snatch the picture. She was surrounded by a big group of people who quickly whisked her into a limo. But she walked right by me.

I was ten feet away from the only living human being who knows the fate of Harry Potter.

O_o

They had gone through the underground garage to get across the street. Sneaky snaky! Yeah...she had on shoes with Slytherin Snakes on them.

So the next day we went to the Gershwin theater to put our names in the Wicked lottery. On Broadway, for most shows, if you go a couple hours before, you can put your name in a lottery and if you win you get orchestra seats for $25. We didn't get picked, but we waited on the cancellation line for two more hours and we FINALLY got seats. They were in the orchestra section (which are the first few rows zomg!) but they were not cheap.

The show was AMAZING! I could actually make out faces because I was seven rows away from the stage. Sandyra was directly behind me two rows back.

After the show we once again went out to the stage door for signatures and whatnot. We got the Tin Man's signature, and then the guy came out, said they were rehearsing and to go home. Sandyra stopped to call her mom, and who should walk out the stage door but SAYCON SENGBLOH!!!

She plays Elphaba for those of you who don't know. She's Eden Espinosa's stand-in, and she's amazing! I've seen her two out of the three tims I've gone.

Everyone else had left, so it was just her, Sandyra, and I. She signed our playbills and took pictures with us. She is such a sweet person!

We had such a great couple of days. It was rediculously hot, but so worth it!

But now I'm back in reality again. Grrrr.

I can't wait to move out.

Ta.

I am so glad you were able to get away for a couple days and just enjoy yourself. I would have loved to go on a trip with the gang but I never did anything to make that happen. Oh well.

As a sidenote: I would to see you, Melanie, Theresa, and Sandyra one last time before I have to leave on Saturday the 19th. Don't work too hard.
