Ok so recently I had been surfing around DA and I was getting really annoyed with this one artist who will remain nameless out of common curtisy. This individual is one of the "popular" artists and has about a million yes man fans who tell this person that their art is perfect and that everyone is jealous of them when someone tries offer some HELPFUL constructive critisim after the person in question ASKS for help.
The fans do not help the person in any way, in fact they are hindering the person and giving the individual a large over inflated head.
I'm sorry but if you ask for help, don't get all pissed off when someone tries to help you and says something you don't like. And for godssake! YOUR TEACHERS ARE NOT JEALOUS OF YOU! Teachers at a college or university are paid PROFESSIONALS, they have gone through insane amounts of training in order to be able to teach. A good protion of them are estabilished arists or animatiors or what ever themselves.
So please before ANYONE goes into some God damned Emo rant about how no one understands them and that no one understands their "art" think about what you're about to say.
And one last thing, if you post your work on the INTERNET it's free game so get ready for critques and what not. If you can't handle this then get the fuck out of the art field.

I agree. It's like they think that everyone should love their art sometimes. I hate to say it but, there is NO ONE on the face of this earth that is going to have art that everyone loves. It just doesn't happen. *sigh* Anyways, I agree.

I know exactly who you are talking about. That really pissed me off when the whole teacher thing was being debated. People were throwing around nonsense like "well art teachers are just failed artists" and "she is just jealous because you style is original." God I wanted to beat them in the heads with spiked clubs. Telling this person that they rock hard is one thing, but telling them that everyone who critisizes them is a jealous bastard is just totally overdoing it. Oh yeah, I'm totally jealous of all the fans that this person has. Yeah right. I've never seen such an idiotic mass of people in my life and I'm glad they don't hover around me. O_O The person is just NOT ready for the real world or even college life.

Yes, people who whine about CONSTRUCTIVE critisim are annoying...
But I'm sure this peron is sensitive about any crits after being told her art sucks, and was over all bashed completly, and her personal character bashed as well from before. I feel very sorry for this person. 'it' can't get away from online trolls and IRL trolls too.
Meh, I'm probably talking about someone else completly. So nevermind
and that is why i stay away from DA now...well that and there's no anime wallpapers allowed
whats really annoying is when some 'popular' artists send their lackies to go and harrass a lesser artist...thats just low and demening.

I agree with you on this one... There are many people out there who can't take good or bad critisim, and it is annoying when they get in a rant about how they don't like what others said...

An over inflated ego is usually a weak one so the littlest hint at something being wrong will offend someong like that. But as long as someone isn't attacking the artist, it's ok. But on dA if you don't want your work critcized you can always mark it as Critique discouraged...

It's so sad, but true. People just don't accept critisizms even though it's for their own good. They just keep complaining over and over again... so annoying. Why post thier art if they don't like critiques. Makes me laugh in a way.

I know exactly who you're talking about. I've posted to their account in the journals and artworks with real critiques and get shot down. Disable comments is a feature to use! >< I can understand getting angry with critiques if your art is soley a hobby, but when you want to become a professional, you better get used to it. Not to mention that the critiques in the earlier stages of a career help in the later part. It is sad that potential is wasted because of brattiness.
