i saw this on the front page today.
and ai have to say, that although i participated in the silence yesterday, i see this poem's point.

silence is conforming in a way.
you should speak out.
but i believe that silence is powerful too.
so maybe my support didn't make much of a difference alone. maybe i didn't change any minds. but at least i showed that there are people that support, that respect your choices.
i believe that silence isn't the real answer, as the effect is varied and difficult to explain, express if you didn't try it yourself.
it was an idea, and it got attention, and for once, the publicity was positive, in my school anyway. if we just chanted out and spoke loudly, it'd be no use. the public would go, "those crazy gay rights people, whiny, whiny"
but with silence, and the handouts, i think maybe it showed the pain that people go through in discrimination, of any sort.

a lesson learned, if not spread.
