I know this is probably old news but things seem rather dead in the forum here. Anyway as some of you might know FUNimation has bought the rights to redub Slayers. And for some time it appeared as though they were going to pursue the leading voxes. Lisa Ortiz, Crispen Freeman, Veronica Taylor, ect... Well for those who were looking forward to it, Veronica Taylor was recently reported as saying that for reasons unexplained FUNimation was [i]forced[/i] to drop the project. However they will be released remastered editions in three four dvd boxsets. Both audio and video is reportedly remastered though we don't exactly know what that means. So speculations? Or maybe even opinions on whether you think a redubbing would've been a good idea? Certainly if this was done in Japan and sales were high enough the continued production of Slayers Again might've been a possibility.

I was pretty 'take it or leave it' with the redub since I only watch the Japanese track on anything anyways, but I do think is is a pretty good indicator of the failing anime market at large. They just couldn't budget a dub, and that's not a shocker seeing that Geneon couldn't even keep afloat and ADV has been downscaling the packaging quality by leaps and bounds on some releases. From what reviews I've seen, there really isn't any difference in quality between the old release and FUNi's new set. It's big difference is that is has proper chapter and includes episode previews if you play it in Japanese. That's not enough to make me want to buy since I already have the series, but atleast this means more people might get into the show that haven't been able to find it before. Redubbing could have been a good thing in the sense that it might have then been playable on Adult Swim, but that's not really possible now :/
