Oh yeah. I have been having TONS or trouble with this. I want to use a rustic background for a picture I am creating and I have tried EVERYTHING but it always turn out like blurred brown colors :/ Anyone got tips?

Hi Stategurl--

Something that might work is looking at a reference picture (click here for a good one) and practice painting/drawing until you feel like you have the technique down. Pay special attention to the colors--there are a lot of greys, oranges, and blues in that one, not just browns. :) Varying the colors even a little might yield exactly the effect you're looking for.

Hope that helps.
