Guys, Guys.. chill out. It's only a 2D game in HD. It's not like the cool new 3D games they have been comming out since Sonic Adventure 1. The 2D games suck back in the old days. and the Sonic rush series is even worse. Sonic 3D stay TRUE!
Well.... thats probably what I would say if I started playing sonic around or after adventure.
Dude! this game is going to be awesome! a 2D game! Sega is going back to it's roots! Finally! HD! Sweet! It's going to be alot better than those crap 3D games. ever since Sonic Adventure, sonic's been crap.
Well.... again. thats probably what I would say if I was like a teen when Sonic 1 came out. Just and older fellow.
Im a leaner towards the older crew. but, I like both 2D and 3D alike. just some 3D games were stupid, and those games were aimed at very young audience. I say, who cares. Sonics been around for awhile, growing up with everyone. probably always will. just wait until like 4D/virtual reality games start coming out. I bet you that, everyone who now likes the 3D games will hate it. and all the kids who are introduced at the point will like it.
Well all I have to say is Sonic "project Needlemouse" (SPN) better not be a HD sonic 1 2 or 3k. CD even. Becuz, it's going to be the same game, that I can play right now. just better graphics. I want a new 2D sega gen game. A sonic 4. either a big game with sonic 1, 2, 3k, and cd combined with a games worth of extra or new levels. or just a brand new game. nothing never seen before. I mean, except the 2D part. It might be 2.5D despite what they said.
Oh if you guys don't know, its another game announced by sega.

I am not looking forward to this at all. This game sounds like Sega is saying "that's it, we can't make any good Sonic games so we're just going to make more games that are exactly like the old games". This will just lead to Sega cloning the same game over and over again.

? I never said sonic rush wasn't a 2D game. I like Sonic rush a lot actually. BUT! It wasn't a mainstream game. Its a hand-held game. Im not really talking about those. I like the advance series and the rush series. The Rivals series were ok, but it still played in 2D.
I don't think It will be a clone.

It highly possible that the game may be a clone though. "Needlemouse" was the production codename of the first Sonic The Hedgehog game, the teaser title looks exactly like the first games title, and the game's website (http://www.needlemouse.com/pr/index.php) looks like the Green Hill Zone stage.

Im sry dude. but this isn't the official site man. http://www.needlemouse.com/pr/index.php is just some fan boys site with the same name. its not real. you should read before saying something.
the teaser shows nothing anyway. so you can't say for sure.

Oh, well I'm still suspicious of that title. It would be just like Sonic Team to raise their fans expectations for something that turns out to be horrible, just like they've been doing for the past few years. Personally, I think Sonic Team should move onto a new franchise. Sonic's plot has gotten so messed up, that I think it's time that Sonic Team either restart the entire franchise or move onto something else.

Don't get too exited. You guys gotta realize that Sonic is in serious deep shit unless they reboot the entire series and kill off most of the cast. The only thing Sonic has going for him currently is pure nostalgia and furries. Sorry, but it's true.

That's the only reason the Sonic franchise is making money though. Sega's real problem is that their obsessed with adding a gimmick to every game, when they need to focus on good gameplay.

There are a few problems with that, though
1. A lot of people from the original sonic team left
2. Sega's marketing for Sonic back in the day was this BS thing called "blast processing," and speed was actually an impressive thing to accomplish on older systems. While most platformers were about pacing and exploring, Sonic introduced a new type of platformer that was about just speeding through the level. However, in modern day...that's no longer special or impressive. Speed isn't difficult to pull off anymore. What they need to do is find a new way to use speed in gameplay that would be interesting, fun, useful and somewhat unique. Just traveling along really fast is not enough anymore.
3. Sonic was invented to be a "cool" version of mario. Unfortunately cool has a shelf life. They need to make Sonic into a more timeless character like Mario is.
And don't think I'm being biased, since I was actually a huge Sonic kid growing up :/

I know, I used to be a Sonic fan as well.
That's why I think Sega should create a new franchise to replace Sonic. Sonic was good back in the day, but now it's story is a mess and the game's are getting worse with every installment. Sega just needs to let Sonic die, or else Sonic will kill them.

I don't think so. Sega would be foolish to abandon their plot at this point, since their main source of income comes from obsessed Sonic fans and furries who love the plot. I also think that Sega would have a much bigger advertising campaign if they were trying to reboot the series.

I think Sonic can be saved, though, if they just reboot the series. Kill off pretty much every character except Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Eggman, have a better and simpler plot, and gameplay that uses speed in a way that is fun and unique on modern consoles.

how about they do what nintendo did, and not have sonic talk. have simple things going on and make it fun. I mean, telling a story without anyone talking is pretty hard

Games are not beyond the point where good games can have silent protagonists. Gamers want not only good gameplay, but good plots as well. Even the latest Mario games have lots of dialogue.

But the point is, that they still do it, and SEGA should also. Link doesn't talk. for nintendo, I think Wario and Mario are the ones that talk the most. And they only say like one or 2 things. Im not talking about reading text. Im talking about "talking characters."
the last I've seen anyone talk is the other characters talking to them (link, mario, etc).

Um, I take it you haven't played Zelda: The Twilight Princess, the new Metroid games, Super Mario Galaxy, and Starfox Adventures. The protagonist's are silent, but everyone else isn't. Serious gamers want to have plots in all of their games now.
