I just recenly got a set of Prismacolor Colored Pencils, and I was wondering if anyone is proficient with colored pencils. If so, could you give me some tips for using them (especially coloring and shading)? Links to colored pencil tutorials would also be appreciated. Thanks!

It's going to sound odd, but try using cardboard to color on rather than super slick papers like printer or cardstock. The soft, no textured surface blends like you wouldn't believe:
