My computer's been acting up the past few days ,due to a worm. I got must of the worm off (or so i'd like to think) ,but there's something stuck on my comp.
I think i got this from a Japanese blog site i visited, but my computer was fine before that. It has a feature where you can watch the process of how what you're looking at was drawn ,and when i tried to play it virus' were unleashed.
The enemy file name is c:/WINDOWS/uninstall_nmom.VB
All the other virus files ended with ".vb" ,so i know this is bad.
When the virus scan pulls it up everything freezes.
When i try to delete it myself everything freezes.
If i so much as just click on it everything freezes.
Then after the freeze I have to restart the comp.
It's odd that when i lined up the files by modded date it came in as being there since 06. Until now I've been able to run a full virus scan without the computer freezing, tho.
So, what should I do folks?

quote:1. Format your hard drive
2. Reinstall Windows
3. Recover everything
Press F8 before your computer starts Windows.
Select "Safe Mode /w Command Prompt".
Using the command prompt, delete the virus.
(Just be careful, some viruses have a habit of attaching themselves to vital files.)

^This is a good way for a noob who downloads VB files in the first place to completely trash their system.
The previous commentor had the correct answer.

Technically, you'll find in that scenario, the system is trashed either way, so it's completely irrelevant.

Yes, but your "solution" is a waste of time, since you're going to end up having to format and reinstall the OS after the virus repropagates itself after rebooting, or you trash your system deleting those "vital files" you mentioned.
