my scans suck... I draw a slightly curved line and it
comes out like this /

first off, which brand's scanner do ya use?

Scan in color or gray scale instead of black and white.

Also, make sure the resolution is at least 200 or 300 dpi, and you can reduce it later (72dpi is web standard), this will hide and soften some hard line defects.

I think it is not "How Can You Improve" But it depends on Your own scanner, If you have a good Model You will scan what ever you want Whit High/Good Quality! If you use A bad Scanner you will Scan what You want in Low Quality etc.! Thats what i think...

No.
As m u Dlo Bst Er said, most scanners have DPI settings. While Text etc wouldn't really need much, things like Drawings need a much higher DPI.
