mkinne: the prints policy on deviantART is a take it or leave it buy-in operation. after base price, 50% of the profits go to the artist, and 50% to deviantART.
100% of the profits go to DeviantART. 50% of the believed profit goes to "deivant dollars" which are of absolutely no value outside of DeviantART. How an Artist is able to pay for rent or food on e-money is beyond me.
sycho: The admins are not Nazis; they actually just know the difference between right and wrong, as well as the rules on the site.
And simply because they have something other than a !, ~ or * by their name they "automatically" know right from wrong? Sycho and Mkinne and many other Admin of DeviantART swear up and down that the TOS is well worded and clear as crystal. But either they wrote it and thus it is clear to them as it spawned from their own twisted minds, or it was written by Microsoft and they were shown a different one that they enforce and the general public is not permited to view.

I am not for or against hate art of any kind. I believe there are limits, but then there's limits to censorship as well. DeviantART is not going to "help" SheezyArt in any way, why SA should do anything to be kind to them or keep from hurting their feelings is beyond me. I question if Jark and majority of the DA Admin's have feelings at all really.
I for one am not at all pleased with how DA is run. They can blame it on the number of members all they want, but it doesn't change the fact that "many" (not all) of the Administration "often" (not always) acts above the "law" there:
- Jark not so long ago had his Icon depicting anal probing.
- Many emoticons depict sexual things when any images a user uploads that contain sexual references are instantly removed, reguardless of how tame they are.
- I've watched someone get banned for simply stating in a journal entry that the Admin's did nothing when s/he was harassed and flammed about his/her sexual preferences.
- I've seen deviations removed with a note saying they were "containing sexual material" or some-such(none of mine have been removed or I'd know the exact wording), yet many of them were far more tame than some of the emoticons ANYONE can use are. (one that comes to mind had no genitals showing, was a scrap, had no suggestive title or anything, etc.)
- "I" have been harassed and flamed and given links and snippets about it and had nothing done for me.
I will not support DeviantART, and if SheezyArt wishes to try and join into a partnership with the "Satan" of the online art communities, then I doubt I will remain here long or tell many more people about SA either.

(Oh, and before it get's asked, I am Snowolf on DA as well)
There will be no partnership. CC was tired when he posted that and selected a very poor word.
However, we are opening our hand to dA so we can form some type of understanding. SA does not like to have its image trampled, and I'm sure the same runs true with dA.
I am confident we can work something out, for the sake of the art population as a whole. This in no way means a partnership. Let that be very clear.
I am glad to hear that no partnership is going to be formed with the sata-err, with DeviantART. I do agree that forming an understanding is a good thing as it is better that we, as artists, spend time working on improving ourselves and our works instead of constantly fighting a flamewar with another site.
Both sites "could" benefit from such a union, Sheezy could perhaps get coding tips(tho I think the site is coming around quite nicely on it's own) and Deviant could, perhaps if they'd open their eyes to their own internal corruption, see how a great administration runs a great site like Sheezy.
re: money from print sales: When will I get paid?. the money first goes into a deviantCASH/DOLLAR (not sure which term they finally used) account, then on the schedule provided, the money is paid out in actual dollars (well, a check or to paypal, etc).
In reply to the link on forfeiting subscriptions: And when someone get's banned for an unjust/unsound reason and have not broken the ToS? Either way it's still unprofessional but should have something about that, specifically, listed under policies..
To the ban inquiries for friends: Umm, I didn't say anything about ban inquiries for friends. My message was about those who stand up for their friends who have been banned. As they are friends, it is quite likely they already know why their friend was banned(or even if they were banned or not as the case may not always be that they were banned). Sure, for privacy and whatnot, I can understand not going into detail about the banning of one person or another. However when someone is wronged their friends are going to back them, and you should link me to something that says you're not allowed to support your friends. (if you do find a link of that sort for me, I'll be considerably more disappointed in DA than I already am)
As for the print sales thing, that's news to me so I stand corrected. :b
if someone is banned for unjust/unsound reasons, they can take it up with the helpdesk and indicate as much, that you believe you were banned unjustly and why you believe you should be unbanned.
backing up a friend in a ban? if they have violated site policy, what is there to back up? administrators won't discuss a ban of another user with anyone but that user. deviantART doesn't say you should support your friends, be loyal, or have an abiding sense of right when it comes to your friends and their actions; however, flaming, inciting others, etc are not respectable ways of backing up your friend. quite honestly, if your friend has been banned, how can you 'back them'?
as for the prints thing; i asked an administrator to make it even more clear and apparent the interaction of dCASH/DOLLARS and actual dollars in the faq.
I was banned for a time and told it was for harassment when at the time the "harassment" was simply me replying to what people had asked. They'd told me to leave them alone and then asked me things, so i replied to their things, back and forth until they stopped commenting and I was shortly thereafter banned for two weeks for "harassment" which I asked at the helpdesk about and didn't get a reply to during the full two weeks I was banned, nor have I gotten word at all and it has been more than two months..
And no, not backing up a friend in a ban, just backing up/standing up for, period. I've seen friends harassed and flamed for this reason or that, and I've seen them submit help requests and been shown logs of information sent back (if any) where the admin don't give a shit and won't do squat to uphold the TOS and protect the DA members who are being harassed, daily in some cases. Or in the cases where banning has occured but why has been made clear and it isn't a just reason and the Help Desk people arn't responding or anything, a friend can speak out for them, saying what's going on is wrong.

You know, in the end, I think DA would solve most of it's problems if it just got rid of 90% of the staff and were a little more selective on who they take in and not just say "Hey, so-and-so, you've been my friend for weeks/months/years, want to be a mod?" as it seems, quite blatantly, that DA is little more than a big "club" where the "leaders" are the best friends of the founder and the rest are just sitting there as entertainment.
