Thorstein Shiver's Toilet Troubles

So, our former literature professor is said to be MIA for the rest of the semester due to illness - sad one one hand, certainly, but terribly entertaining for the fact that our replacement seems to have one hell of a quirky taste in literature. (and unlike our prior professor, she assigns art homework for the class. Which is, of course, a major plus) Her first assigned reading? A strange old Nordic myth called "The Tale of Thorstein Shiver." We're suppose to do a quick drawing of it of some sort for it, so voila.

Quote: "Scream like Starkad does once," said Thorstein.

"All right," said the demon.

He then began to scream a second time so terribly that Thorstein thought it monstrous that suck a little fiend could howl so loudly: again Thorstein wrapped his cloak around his head, but the crying paralyzed him, and he fainted.

Then the demon asked, "Why are you so quiet now?"

When he had recovered, Thorstein replied, "I'm silent because I am amazed at what a horrible voice you have, as little a demon as you appear to be. Was that Starkad's loudest cry?"

"Not even close," he answered, "Rather his quietest."

Mind you, this entire conversation takes place in an outhouse.
