This is part of a game i've been working on for a while now that has almost totally consumed my flash time. I got the inspiration a while back and just couldn't stop working on it. Normally, i'd have a lot more done, but since this is my first time doing any coding whatsoever, i've had to sort of learn everything from scratch.
I decided that the largest hunk of difficult work would be in designing the battle system, so i started work on that first. This is what it's come to so far.
(BTW: this game is turning out to be a bit graphic intensive. it may run slower on some machines. There is a temporary quality toggle button in the upper left hand corner you can use if you get this issue)
Beta 'things to keep in mind':
i'm looking for feedback, good or bad i don't care.
Keep in mind that things are a bit unfinished, and also the following:
1. The coding for random enemies based on the zone your in is actually in the game, but since there's no world map for you to explore yet, this feature is unavailable. For now, you just fight the things i've designed the beta to pit you against, a rat and a slime (these are very basic monsters, likely the 2 first things you'll ever encounter in the actuall game)
2. There is an inventory screen in the works, you will be able to equip different weapons and such with this feature, but it won't be part of the actuall battle.
3. there is no victory screen yet, it's in the works.
4. There will be 2 more characters than the two you currently get to work with. This includes a priest and a thief character, and you will be able to switch them in and out just like the warrior and the wizard you are givin to work with now.
5. this isn't supposed to be hard, yet.
6. That is actually custom music!
7. THIS IS IMPORTANT: it never says so anywhere in the game, I forgot to mention it, but you can switch between characters. the portraights for your characters are at the bottom right of the screen. When a portraight is grayed out, it means you're currently using that character. WHen that character's energy is low, their little circular portraight is filled to a % of black, (their energy will regenerate while you have a different player selected). When that particular character is available, the green ! button next to their name and below their HP bar will light up, and you click that to switch to them.
IMPORTANT: make sure you read the "Pre-Battle Setup" temporary screen to know how to play. In the actuall game there'll be a real help screen, but that's all you got for now.
Reported Bugs:
1. When you die, you can't switch characters (status: not sure what's causing this, i tested it personally and i was able to switch characters just fine :/)
2. Monsters will continue to maul your dead body after you die (Status: yes, this is an actuall bug, and i'm working on fixing it lol)

EtherealMog Says:
I have to say this is totally awesome, I have to say that this is amazing for flash work, not only is it smooth and clean it's got a strategy behind switching the characters!! I can't wait to see this in full, this is gonna be impressive!! Really well done on this
I'm making an MMO, but thus far it's completely pathetic.
Winged Sence Says:
WHy is it that I lack the power to KILL THEM!? Did I miss something in the directions? Is it a glitch or did you do this to torture me?
No in all honesty why can't I damage these guys yet they can continually damage me? It's not fair! *Cries*
Red Ace Says:
I gotta say even for a demo, this really brought out the inner strategist
cant wait for the actual game
Ctarl Says:
You have a good flash game in the works here. But there are a few issues you need to take care of, most you already know of which fall into what you're either working on or fixing. Your magic meter has no numbers on it. You have the numbers on the health though so you got that. The time between attacks is slow, too slow. If it was a bit faster, you'd get this perfectly. Other than that, very good game.

I sure showed them!
