Ch. 4 Kitsune.Tsuki
Ch. 4
Jin yawned and stretched, rubbing his eyes. "Oh yea...I forgot about that. Hurry up then." Oinari was first-rate at being dramatic. For a God, he had an adolescent sense of humor. Oinari seized onto Jin's forearms, squeezing them tightly. "Jin, your mother is to die tonight." The boy felt dizzy. "What? Why? How do you ... No, she can't. Let me go!" Jin pulled himself free of Oinari, "I need to sleep... this is just a dream..." He fell to the floor. "No, she can't." "She can and she will, but you can stop it" Oinari kneeled next to Jin. He noticed the boy's delicate features, which were easy to mask his true identity. "You can stop her from dying; just deliver your first message." Jin panted, closing his eyes securely. "But like I said, I need to perform a Fox Lunacy, or a...what was that word again?" Oinari put his hand to his face curiously. "Oh yea, a Kitsune Tsuki!" Jin noted Oinari as s rather irritating person, causing Jin to grow annoyed with his new master. "Hurry up already!" Jin heaved his body from the ground." "Ok, ok, calm your little self down." Oinari pulled the colossal orb from under his robe once again. It was a wonder how he ever fit it under there. "Yea so, this ball holds all of the energy you need, and the shard you are wearing around your neck is only a tiny spec of what powers you have...first I need to infuse your blood into the orb...%u201D Oinari grabbed Jin's hand. The boy was petrified. "This may hurt uh...a little" Oinari slashed Jin's palm open with a knife, the silver blood gushed. "What the hell... how is my blood gray?" He cringed against the metal of the knife. Oinari pressed Jin's hand against the orb; the blood ran over it like a fountain. Oinari chanted some kind of song that made the spheres content's move like mad. He then pressed his own hand against Jin's. Once he let go, the wound was gone. "Jin-Sen Yusheng" Oinari rubbed his fingers along the charm of Jin's necklace. Symbols appeared on the slice of the orb, Jin's full name. "I hate that, don't call me that" Jin whined. "But that is your given name, why don't you like it?" Oinari held onto the necklace, placing his hand on Jin's forehead. "Maybe it's because when my mom gets mad at me, she has a tendency to yell my full name...I hate upsetting her." Again, Oinari recited a bizarre language. This time, the room fell black, a blue light burst from the necklace shard. A Fox Spirit flew through Oinari's hand into Jin's skull. The top of Jin's head began to tingle, the same with his tail bone.
"Alright, we're done" Oinari stood back and stared at Jin, like an artist observing his work. Jin extended his limbs and went to scratch his head, but felt a wooly fixation in his path. He then put both hands on his head, feeling for both of the same objects at once. "What in hell are these?!" Jin yelled. Oinari laughed hysterically.
--
"Now, feel your tailbone!" Oinari couldn't help himself, he thought of this as funny. The boy felt fur brush against his hands, and yelped. "What did you do to me!?" Jin yelled frantically, running to one of the glossy incense pots. He looked at his unclear reflection. "I have ears? I have ...fox ears? You never told me about this! And a tail?! What is my mother going to think!?" Jin pulled at the beast appendages; they were not supposed to be there. "Oh yea, about tha...you can't ever see your mother or your family or your friends... if you have any friends - any longer. Sorry" Oinari circled his foot along the floor. He was a beautiful man. He was, however, quite dim witted. "You're sick, you%u2019re twisted and you're a monster, and I hate you!" Jin ran to the doors of the temple, plummeting himself against the exit. The boy began to sob. "Oh now, there, there Jin-Sen, it's alright. You can see them, but they can't see you, or hear you...%u201D Oinari stroked Jin's head and new ears. "You're a spirit now, and you belong to the heavens." "I'm DEAD!?" Jin screamed. "No, not dead[i/] uh... you're just not a human is all" Oinari stuttered, lifting the boy into his arms. "Let go of me!" Jin squirmed but could not liberate himself. "I just wanna go home!" "You are home!" Oinari admired his new messenger, what a gorgeous case he was. "You saved your mother from death, and now you owe me a great deal of pay, with your own life." The man was as serious as serious could ever be. "Would you have had rather let her die?" Oinari stared into Jin's scorching ginger eyes. "No, of course not! I just want to be with her...and my brother, and my..." Jin trailed off. "Your what? Your father? He doesn't even care about you, trust me %u2013 I know. I'll take care of you, besides...no one will remember who you are." Oinari held Jin in his arms like a precious treasure, and that he was. "No one...knows I exist?" Jin glared down at his hands. "Yes, no one knows you were even born, but like that's much of a difference from your earlier life...oops, that was kind of harsh wasn't it? I tend to do these things alo-" Jin began to snivel. "That's not true, people knew I existed. People do care about me. Like that girl that wanted to talk to me the other day? She acknowledged my being. Put me down now." Jin's voice was not angry, and it was not sad. A detached song from a distressed bird in anguish, one that made your skin creep and your hairs stand on end. Oinari was aware of Jin's sorrow, but he understood that the boy had much to learn and that there need not be room for expression of grief. "Please, Jin you have to be patient. Many a few men would give everything for this position. Jin, the world's in your hands, the human race is at your feet. You now have a chance to prove your foes wrong, and to prove your admirers right %u2013 that you can accomplish much more than what is expected of a heartbroken boy. Every young child's dream is to be a hero, isn't that what you want?" The man, still holding onto Jin, walked into a separate part of the temple, a secluded quite and comfortable area. He then put Jin down. "Now, here is your letter. You mustn't read it, never at all. The paper will guide you to the place of objective. Now, go, before dawn breaks and your mother is claimed by Death. But be careful, and watch for the Hyakki-Yako!" Oinari summoned a black cloud from the sky, which lifted Jin up to the top of the building. "But...I still have more questions!! How do I defend myself!?" Jin's words were lost with the wind as he sped higher toward the night sky.
