First off, let me just go ahead and say this. I prefer the name "Forte" over "Bass" on the account of
1) He's not a fish, and that's how his English name sounds like.
2) Bass is just plain dumb. To fit the pun? They changed Rock's name to "Megaman" There is no pun anymore!
Anyhow, yeah, this is the other part of the trio. I was thinking, "Well, I changed the characters twice, but maybe I should keep one of the original ones." Plus, the reason I started the comic was inspiration from the forum "Mobius-X", although I no longer go there. The original two characters were Knuckles and Forte, then changed to Shadow and Forte, then changed again to Sonic and Shadow. I prefer these two as of now, since it will make more sense judging from the origins.

No, his English name sounds like "base". Ever heard of a double bass? It's a string instrument in the violin family (you know, violin, viola, cello, etc.?). As well, "bass" is the term used to describe the symbol which indicates the notes that are played on a piano with a person's left hand. They're both music terms...which brings up the point as to why they changed the name in the first place.
And Mega Man's Japanese name is "Rockman", not "Rock". Even if it were Rock, "forte" isn't a type of music but (in most cases) a specific loudness of one or more musical notes. The pun is with "Roll" (and possibly "Blues" as well).
As well, if you read the spritecomic Bob and George, you will find that Bass is, in fact, truly dumb.
