As some of you know, I am a SCAdian. My major Medieval geekery tends to focus on string (spinning, weaving, naal-binding, knitting...) I finally got around to dabbling in period dyes, yesterday.
I'd been saving onion skins for about 6 months (mostly from yellow onions, although I did throw in a red onion skin to make the color interesting.) I was expecting to end up with a more orangey-yellow color, but such is the nature of natural dyeing. I still have a fair bit of dye left over, so I'll be dyeing more wool later this week.
