Ever since the first Pokémon game came out, I had fallen into the critter craze. To this day I own all the Gameboy cartridges and have "Caught Them All" over, and over again. However, one critter perplexed me even to this day. Ok, technically, it was MORE than one critter.

Eevee. Eevee is defined as the "evolution" Pokémon, and for good reason. With the use of stones, and "love" during night and day (NOT the dirty kind!), Eevee has five individual higher evolutions. I'm sure everyone knows what they are:

Firestone: -----------> Flareon
Waterstone: --------> Vaporeon
Thunderstone: -----> Jolteon
Day "Love": --------> Espeon
Night "Love": -------> Umreon
(Personally, I think the whole Night/Day Evo thing was the attempt to pull away from the stone evolution cliché. I mean, they could have gotten the same result had they gone with the Moon and Sun stone evolution thing.)

Well, ever since I was introduced to the games and Eevee's starting evolutions, I was always curious as to why the Leaf Stone never caused Eevee to evolve. The Pokémon games have a very small population of the Plant variety critters and I figured having an Eevee plant evolution would give the "herbal" community a nice addition. This pixelated critter before you is the result.

I chose the name Phylleon because it is derived from the greek word - Phyllon which means "Leaf". I thought of it when I was going through some old biology notes on Chlorophyll, the green photosynthetic pigment found in most plants, and algae. Yes, I know I'm a super science geek.
The Word Chlorophyll is derived of the combined greek terms:
Chloros(Green) Phyllon(Leaf)
Not bad huh? Pretty original?

I know that the new Pokémon Diamond/Pearl games have a plant type Eevee-evo already. Its called Leafia (Riifuia in Japan) and it evolves when you train it around the "Moss Rock".
I think it looks too much like a cat with a super swishy tail.
