Chapter 5. Lost Sorrows.


%u201CNah, I got a better idea, you die!!%u201D yelled a voice.
%u201CWhat the?%u201D said Urd as she struggled to her knees to see a motorbike being driven by Keichii with Night Lancer standing on the back with his katana drawn, %u201CIt cant be%u2026%u201D
%u201COk, listen, once I jump at this fucker you rescue Belldandy and the others,%u201D Night Lancer said to Keichii.
%u201CAll right,%u201D replied Keichii as he slammed the brakes on his bike and spun it onto its side, the momentum catapulting Night Lancer at the demon.
%u201CWHAT THE FUCK!?%u201D yelled the demon as Night Lancer flew at him and swung his sward, the demon blocking it with ease.
%u201CWell at least you%u2019re good as they say,%u201D said Night Lancer as he landed and skidded along the ground.
%u201CGlad no to disappoint,%u201D replied the demon, %u201CNow are we going to get started or just exchange complements.%u201D He jumped at Night Lancer with his spear raised high and swung it at Night Lancer who blocked it with his sword, and immediately countered by swinging at the demons waste but this was blocked intern by the demons spear.
Meanwhile in the background.
Keichii had picked up and re-seated on his bike and was speeding over to help Belldandy who was still laying in the crater that she made when she was blown across the temple compound.
%u201CBell-Chan, please be OK,%u201D said Keichii as he got off his bike and run over to her, totally unprepared for what he was about to see. Belldandy was laying on her back, eyes closed, covered in dirt and not moving, most of the front of her uniform was missing, burnt back from the blast, the skin charred black, her left arm was pointed in the opposite direction then which it was meant to, and the rest of her body was covered un cuts, burses and blood. %u201COhh no%u2026 don%u2019t tell me she%u2019s gone%u2026%u201D He ran down the side of the crater to see to her. He put his ear to her chest to see for any signs of life, she was still alive, but only barely. He picked her up and carried her over to his bike; there he met up with Kate and Urd, who were helping each other get over to where Keichii was standing.
%u201CWhat happened here Urd?%u201D asked Keichii while still cradling the body of Belldandy in his arms.
%u201CThis demon showed up and suddenly started beating the crap through us, %u201C replied Urd as she gently lowered Kate to the ground, and sat down herself, %u201Capparently he was looking for Night Lancer, and considered us as some sort of warm up game.%u201D
%u201CWell it looks like he is completely contempt with Night Lancer now,%u201D said Keichii while in the background Night Lancer and the demon exchanged attacks both of which unable to penetrate the others defenses.
%u201CWhat do you mean by %u2018contempt%u2019, my beautiful boyfriend is out there risking his life for me,%u201D replied Kate as she turned red in the face and turned around to watch Night Lancer, %u201Cohh, its so romantic, him jumping into combat with the thoughts of doing nothing but saving me.%u201D
%u201CWhat%u2019s her problem?%u201D asked Keichii.
%u201CWell if I didn%u2019t know better I%u2019d say that the two of them where going out,%u201D replied Urd, %u201Cbut I know for a fact that Night Lancer doesn%u2019t really like her.%u201D
Meanwhile in the background.
%u201CWell it looks like you where worth the wait,%u201D said the demon in a cocky voice, %u201CEven though those other three weren%u2019t great, they where a good warm up,%u201D
%u201CRight, whatever,%u201D replied Night Lancer as he took a swing at the demon, which was in tern blocked and countered. %u201CIf you%u2019re trying to annoy me you are failing terribly.%u201D
%u201CAll right then, how about this?%u201D said the demon as he pointed his hand at where Keichii and the others are standing. %u201CNow here is a choice, you or them.%u201D
%u201CWhat!? Leave them out of this!%u201D replied Night Lancer while raising his sword to the demon. %u201CThis fight is between you and me, not them.%u201D
%u201CWhat? I thought you didn%u2019t care about them,%u201D answered the demon, this remark enraging Night Lancer, %u201CWhat%u2019s wrong, did I hit a cord or something with that one?%u201D
%u201CScrew you!%u201D yelled Night Lancer while tightening his grip on his katana. %u201CKeichii, Urd, Belldandy and Kate do not deserve to be drawn into this.%u201D He raised his sword high in preparation to charge.
%u201CWhoa, stop right there,%u201D teased the demon while smiling meanly, %u201COne step and your friends get blasted.%u201D
%u201CFuck, not again,%u201D Thought Night Lancer grimly as memories came flooding back. %u201CNow what am I going to do.%u201D
%u201CWell, made your mid up yet?%u201D snarled the demon, %u201CThe clock is ticking, if you don%u2019t make your mind up, ill make it for you.%u201D
%u201CYou wouldn%u2019t fucking dare,%u201D replied Night Lancer, his rage reaching its peak.
%u201COhhh, wouldn%u2019t I?%u201D answered the demon as he fired a shot at Belldandy and Keichii, it flew right by them, skimming Keichii%u2019s ear as it went, %u201Cyou want to be completely sure about that?%u201D
%u201CFuck yo%u2026%u201D said Night Lancer desperately, only to be cut off when suddenly the arm the demon had pointed at Keichii and the others, exploded, followed moments later by the sound of a gunshot.
%u201CWhat the%u2026 m%u2026 my arm!%u201D stuttered the demon, while looking down at where his right arm used to be, all that was left was a small stump just below his shoulder.
%u201CNow%u2019s my chance,%u201D thought Night Lancer as he charged the demon %u201CFUCK YOU!!!!%u201D he ran his sword through the demon, until the hilt was touching his chest.
%u201CWha%u2026 how can this be?%u201D said the demon as Night Lancer twisted his katana, %u201CI was meant to be the best.%u201D He fell to his knees as Night Lancer withdrew his sword.
%u201CWell you obviously weren%u2019t,%u201D replied Night Lancer coldly, %u201Cnow shut the fuck up and die, mother fucker.%u201D With that he cut off the demons head in one swing, the limp lifeless body hitting the ground with a thud.
%u201CHe did it!!%u201D yelled Keichii in relief, %u201Che actually did beat him.%u201D
%u201CYeah, I never doubted the kid for a second,%u201D replied Urd, she turned to Kate who was standing pale-faced starring at Night Lancer. %u201CWhat%u2019s wrong?%u201D
%u201CH%u2026 H%u2026 How%u2026 could he do%u2026 that%u2026?%u201D stammered Kate with tears streaming down her cheeks, %u201CSuch brutality, how could he be capable of that?%u201D
%u201CWhat do you mean?%u201D asked Urd with a puzzled look on her face.
%u201CHow is it possible for a person of such gentle caring heart to do something like that?%u201D replied Kate.
%u201CBecause he must,%u201D answered a voice from behind the, they turned around to see Belldandy sitting up against Keichii%u2019s bike, %u201CHe feels personally responsible for what happened to the ones he cared for, he feels that the only way he can gain forgiveness is by killing and getting revenge.%u201D
%u201CHow do you know that?%u201D asked Kate, now heavily sobbing.
%u201CBecause I saw it%u2026%u201D replied Belldandy, %u201CI saw it in his heart.%u201D
%u201CYou don%u2019t mean,%u201D answered Urd, %u201Cyou went into his heart and mind, didn%u2019t you%u201D
%u201CYes,%u201D replied Belldandy.
%u201CWhen? Asked Urd, %u201Cwhy? You know the risks of doing something so reckless.%u201D
%u201CA few days ago,%u201D answered Belldandy, %u201CI had to do it, because I needed to find out more about him.%u201D
%u201CWhat did you find?%u201D asked Kate, who had now stopped crying.
%u201CPain, death and suffering,%u201D answered Belldandy.
%u201CWhat do you mean by that?%u201D asked Keichii, who had now helped Belldandy to her feet.
%u201CThat was all that I found,%u201D replied Belldandy, %u201CI couldn%u2019t go any further; all I felt was pain, so much pain%u2026%u201D
Meanwhile in the background Night Lancer had re-sheathed his Katana and was catching his breath. %u201CThere is no way I%u2019m gonna let that happed to my friends again,%u201D he said to himself as he spat on the corps of his defeated foe, %u201CNow to see who was responsible for saving my ass back there.%u201D He walked over to the temple building, which was also where the gunshot had come from. When he reached the building he was surprised to find Skuld lying unconscious against a broken wall with Night Lancers 4.4 desert eagle lying next to her.
%u201CWell we%u2019re the heroic one, aren%u2019t we,%u201D said Night Lancer as he knelt down and picked up his hand gun. %u201CLooks like you got the ammo done just at the right time.%u201D He put the gun into its holster in his coat and picked her up %u201CLets see if Belldandy can%u2019t take care of you, shall we?%u201D He walked over to where Belldandy and the others where.
%u201CNIGHTY-CHAN!!%u201D screamed Kate upon noticing Night Lancer walking over, %u201CI knew you would come to rescue me!%u201D She ran over and jumped at Night Lancer to give him a hug, but instead knocked him over, the jolt knocking Skuld back into consciousness.
%u201CHuh%u2026 Where am I%u2026%u201D said Skuld as she came to and looked around to find that she was stuck in-between Night Lancer and Kate who had her arms wrapped around Night Lancer, who inturn was trying to get her off him.
%u201CKate, get the fuck off me, damn it!%u201D Yelled Night Lancer while trying to stand up and detach her from around his waist.
%u201CHelp me!%u201D screamed Skuld as she tried to get out from under Kate.
%u201CI think we should help her,%u201D said Keichii while trying not to laugh.
%u201CNo way%u2026 leave them,%u201D replied Urd while in complete hysterics, %u201Cthis is hilarious!%u201D
%u201CI have to admit, it is pretty funny,%u201D answered Belldandy while giggling slightly. %u201CBut I still think we should help her.%u201D She struggled to her feet, only to collapse to the ground in pain.
%u201CBelldandy,%u201D gasped Keichii while rushing to her side. %u201CYou really shouldn%u2019t do that.%u201D
%u201CSorry Keichii-san,%u201D replied Belldandy sadly.
%u201CThat%u2019s ok,%u201D answered Keichii as he bent down and kissed her on the cheek, %u201CLets get inside and see if we cant do something about your injuries.%u201D He helped her to her feet, %u201CUrd, do something about those three please.%u201D
%u201CAll right then, party pooper,%u201D answered Urd while walking over to where Kate, Night Lancer and Skuld where. By this point Skuld had gotten out from under Kite and Night Lancer was still fighting to get her off him, %u201CCome on now Kate, there %u2018ull be plenty of time to do that to him when you get back to his apartment.%u201D
%u201CWHAT!?%u201D yelled Night Lancer, %u201Csince when is she staying at my place?!%u201D
%u201CAre you serious,%u201D said Kate as she jumped up, %u201CAm I really going to stay with my little Nighty-chan?%u201D
%u201CWell yeah, where else are you going ta stay?%u201D replied Urd with a cheeky smile, %u201CI mean, we%u2019ve got no room around here and Keichii is already badly out numbered as it is, plus there is the little factor of the fact that you%u2019ve gota stay with your mortal charge.%u201D
%u201CYEY!!%u201D screamed Kate in excitement.
%u201CWhy me%u2026%u201D replied Night Lancer in a sad tone.
%u201CWell that%u2019s what you get you little pervert,%u201D said Skuld while walking over to the temple building.
%u201CLittle pervert?%u201D asked Night Lancer as he finally got to his feet. %u201CWhere%u2019d that come from?%u201D
%u201CEasy,%u201D replied Skuld, %u201Cwhat was I doing lying on top of you when I came to?%u201D
%u201CI was carrying you across the temple compound when dumb-ass here decided to tackle me,%u201D answered Night Lancer while stepping out of the way of Kate, who was attempting to hug him again, %u201Cbut it looks like that if your gonna crack the shits every time I help you, I may as well of left you in that crater.%u201D
%u201CYeah you little bitch, leave my Nighty-chan alone!%u201D yelled Kate who had now jumped to the offensive against Skuld.
%u201CL%u2026 L%u2026 Little%u2026 Bitch,%u201D stummered Skuld as she reached into her shirt ad withdrew five Skuld bombs, %u201Chow dare you call me that!!%u201D she threw them all at Night Lancer and Kate
KABOOM!!
The resulting explosion blew Kate and Night Lancer across the temple compound, Night Lancer landed safely and skidded to a halt in the dust, while Kate flew thru the air and landed face first in the side of a cherry tree with an empty thud.
%u201CFucking hell Skuld, what are you doing, trying ta kill me or something!%u201D yelled Night Lancer.
%u201CSkuld!!%u201D yelled a voice from behind Skuld, she turned around to see Belldandy walking across the temple compound, he broken arm in a sling and the injury in her chest healed, with new clothing on, %u201Cstop this now! You should know better than to do something than that!%u201D
%u201CSorry big sis,%u201D replied Skuld sadly.
%u201CThat%u2019s better,%u201D answered Urd, while walking over to Kate %u201Cthis morning has been crazy enough without you destroying the place any more than it already is.%u201D She bent down and helped Kate to her feet, %u201Cyou all right kiddo?%u201D
%u201CI%u2019ve been worse,%u201D said Kate while rubbing her head.
%u201CWhat a mess,%u201D stated Night Lancer as he looked around the temple compound which was pot marked with craters and debris.
%u201CThat can be easily fixed,%u201D replied Belldandy, %u201Cwatch.%u201D She waved her had slowly around her while singing a few words, and right before every-bodies eyes the place re-built its self, craters refilled and set as if they where never there, broken trees re-grew and the decapitated remains of the demon evaporated.
%u201CWhoah%u2026%u201D stared Night Lancer blankly as he turned to Belldandy, %u201CI%u2019ve got to learn how you did that.%u201D Belldandy didn%u2019t reply, she just stood there, back facing everyone, head cocked to one side. %u201CUmm Bell?%u201D Night Lancer walked over to her %u201CYou ok?%u201D he walked around to face her, nothing could prepare him for the sight tat was before him, Belldandy was standing, head cocked to one side, eyes closed, snoring lightly, she was so exhausted that she had fallen asleep on her feet.
%u201CWell, what%u2019s wrong with her?%u201D asked Urd
%u201CIt%u2019s her nap time,%u201D replied Night Lancer, while trying not to burst out in laughter, %u201CI think we wore her out.%u201D
%u201CSounds about right,%u201D said Urd as Skuld looked down at her stomach, %u201CWe did kinda have a rough morning, come to think of it, I could go for a good bottle of sake right now.%u201D
%u201CIce cream time!%u201D yelled Skuld as she rushed indoors and grabbed a 4 liter tub of ice cream.
%u201CStupid kid,%u201D said Night Lancer as he picked up Belldandy and carried her indoors, %u201CUrd can you grab a bottle for me while you%u2019re at it?%u201D
%u201CYeah, sure,%u201D replied Urd while walking over to the kitchen.
%u201CYo K, where does Belldandy sleep?%u201D asked Night Lancer as he entered the temple building.
%u201CWhy?%u201D replied Keichii as he walked over to where Night Lancer was standing, holding the sleeping Belldandy in his arms, %u201CWhat happened?%u201D
%u201CI think she needs a bit more sleep,%u201D answered Night Lancer while passing her limp body over to Keichii, %u201CWhatever you two where up to last night, I think it was a bit two late.%u201D
%u201CWe%u2026 how%u2026. B%u2026b%u2026 But%u201D stummered Keichii completely caught off guard by Night Lancer%u2019s comment. %u201CWe didn%u2019t do anything like that.%u201D
%u201CHe, he, he,%u201D chuckled Night Lancer, %u201Cgot ya.%u201D
%u201CVery funny Mr. Smartarse,%u201D replied Keichii sarcastically as he put Belldandy down her room.
Night Lancer just smiled at him stupidly%u2026
A few hours later.
Belldandy was now awake and had started cooking dinner; Night Lancer was sitting in the tea room, with a bottle of sake, cleaning his blade, Keichii was doing some work on a project for the auto club and Keichii%u2019s little sister, Megumi had shown up, her and Kate hitting off straight away becoming friends almost instantly, the two of them spending the rest of the day walking around town looking at the fashion shops, they came home just as Belldandy came out of the kitchen with a large amount of food.
%u201CDinner time!%u201D yelled Keichii, every rushed to the table, Night Lancer didn%u2019t completely stuff his face this time, but rather his mind seemed to be elsewhere, Keichii and Belldandy sat next to each other, talking, and from time to time, feeding each other, Urd just sat with a bottle of sake and a bowl of rice, Skuld only came out to grab some food, and then disappeared back into her room, obviously working on something, and Kate and Megumi did more talking than eating.
After dinner, Night Lancer went out to have a smoke, due to that he isn%u2019t allowed to smoke inside the temple building now, he sat out on the veranda looking out at the sun setting on the rest of the city and listening to the rain which had started again.
%u201CBad night, isn%u2019t it,%u201D said a voice from behind him, he turned around to see Belldandy standing at one of the sliding doors.
%u201CYeah,%u201D he replied as she sat down next to him.
%u201CWhat%u2019s on your mind?%u201D asked Belldandy kindly, %u201Cyou%u2019ve not really been your self since the incident this morning.
%u201CJust thinking as all,%u201D replied Night Lancer, while taking a long drag from his cigarette.
%u201CWhat about?%u201D continued Belldandy, %u201Cwhat happened today?%u201D
%u201CKind of%u2026%u201D
%u201CIt wasn%u2019t your fault, you know, what happened back there.%u201D
%u201CYeah, but it didn%u2019t stop it from happening though.%u201D Replied Night Lancer as he put out the cigarette. %u201CBetter get going soon, this rain looks like it%u2019s gonna let down in a few.%u201D
%u201CYeah%u2026%u201D replied Belldandy, %u201Cwhat about Kate?%u201D
%u201CWhat about Kate,%u201D answered Night Lancer, %u201CShe aint staying at my place, she %u2018ull drive me up the fucking wall.%u201D
%u201CShe has to,%u201D said Belldandy, %u201COtherwise her contract with you can%u2019t take affect.%u201D
%u201CShit%u2026%u201D thought Night Lancer, %u201Cjust my fucking luck.%u201D
%u201CI%u2019ll go tell her that you%u2019re leaving,%u201D said Belldandy as she went back inside.
%u201CFuck%u2026 this just aint good%u2026%u201D Night Lancer said to himself as he picked up his gear, moments later there was a shriek of happiness and Kate came rushing out the door, jumped at Night Lancer, wrapped her arms around him and started talking about how happy she was to be staying with him, all the while Night Lancer was trying to pry her off him. %u201CKate, what are you doing, get off me for fuck sake!%u201D
After a few minuets Kate decided to calm down, and let Night Lancer go.
%u201CGreat, lets go%u2026%u201D said Night Lancer, %u201CCatch ya later guys,%u201D with that, him and Kate left for the night.
About an hour later.
Night Lancer and Kate got back to his apartment, upon entering, the appearance of the apartment caused Kate to almost throw up.
%u201COh my gosh, how can you live in a place like this!?%u201D cried Kate covering her mouth.
%u201CWhat?%u201D replied Night Lancer, while walking in and looking through the cabinets for some food. %u201CYou can always sleep outside, I never invited you here.%u201D
%u201CHmmm, I guess ill have to give this place a clean up%u2026%u201D said Kate, she walked into the middle of the room, she raised her hands into the air and said a few words, and the room immediately cleaned its self up.
%u201CWhat the fuck do you think you%u2019re doing to my place?%u201D asked Night Lancer, while looking around at the apartment.
%u201CAhh, that%u2019s better,%u201D said Kate as she sat down on the floor smiling to her self, %u201Cthis is more home like.%u201D
%u201CWhat hell is that smell?%u201D asked Night Lancer while looking around his now spotless apartment, %u201Cand where the fuck has all my stuff gone?%u201D
%u201CYour stuff has been put away, and that smell is air freshener,%u201D replied Kate while she unpacked a futon.
%u201CGreat%u2026%u201D said Night Lancer as he lit up a cigarette and sat down.
%u201CHe he, I thought you would like it,%u201D said Kate while smiling dumbly, she wrapped her self in the futon and went to sleep.
%u201CMan, she is such a kid,%u201D Night Lancer said to him self; he unrolled a futon and went to sleep.
