Night Lancer Chronicles Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Blades of Angel
%u201CShit,%u201D thought Night Lancer, as they saw him coming down the alleyway.
%u201CThought we would think you here,%u201D said one of the men holding a
baseball bat.
%u201CTook your sweet old time finding me,%u201D replied Night Lancer.
%u201CWhat, you think we would let you get away after the stunt you pulled?%u201D
said another one of the men. %u201CPeople don%u2019t make fools of the Yakuza and
get away with it.%u201D
%u201CDahh come on all I did was blow up a processing plant, raid a drug
warehouse, and kill about a dozen of your hench-men. Plus to top it all
off, I did it all without getting a single scratch,%u201D Night Lancer said
while lighting up a cigarette.
%u201CDahh screw you!%u201D yelled one of the men holding a handgun. He raised his
gun, took aim and fired. Night Lancer saw this dropped his cigarette,
jumped out of the way and hid behind a dumpster, the bullets flying by
him and ricocheting of the side of the dumpster and walls.
%u201CFuck,%u201D thought Night Lancer, %u201Cthey%u2019re shooting at me. They%u2019re fuckin%u2019
shooting at me, that%u2019s it. Some people are going to get hurt.%u201D
%u201CDahh, what%u2019s the matter,%u201D said one of the men, %u201Cthe Legendary Night
Lancer lost his nerve?%u201D
%u201CFuck you!%u201D yelled Night lancer, while reaching into his coat for his
guns, then realizing with horror that they weren%u2019t there.
%u201CHay,%u201D yelled a female voice from behind Night Lancer, %u201Cwhat do you
think you are doing?%u201D
%u201CWho%u2019s there?%u201D yelled one of the men.
%u201CYour worst nightmare,%u201D replied the woman as she raised her hands and
muttered a few words. The three men with the hand guns flew up in the
air and collided, knocking them unconscious.
%u201COuch, that had to hurt,%u201D said Night lancer as he peered around from the
side of the dumpster.
%u201CAll right, that%u2019s it bitch, now it%u2019s your turn!%u201D yelled one of the men
as he gathered up his friends and ran at the woman.
%u201CNot today it isn%u2019t!%u201D yelled Night Lancer as he jumped over the dumpster
and kicked one of the men in the head, knocking him out.
%u201CWhat the hell was that?%u201D said a man carrying a baseball bat, as he
swung it at Night Lancer, who ducked and punched him in the gut.
%u201CNothing much, just me,%u201D replied Night Lancer as he kicked another man
in the face, knocking him flying into the wall.
%u201CShit, this is nuts!%u201D yelled on of the men as he turned around and ran.
%u201CHay wait for us!%u201D yelled the rest of the men as they followed the first
man down the alley.
%u201CHa, ha, that%u2019s it, run away!%u201D yelled Night Lancer, %u201CYa bloody cowards!%u201D
%u201CWell that was easy enough,%u201D said the woman who was still standing in
the dark part of the alleyway.
%u201CYea,%u201D replied Night Lancer as walked down the alley to find out who his
rescuer was. As he walked down the alley he noticed that she was now
leaning against the wall. As he approached her, he recognized some of
the few facial features that he could see. It was none other than Urd.
%u201CHay ya,%u201D she said, as she waved at him.
%u201CHay,%u201D replied Night Lancer, %u2018what are you doing here?%u201D
%u201CWhat, no %u2018am I so glad to see you%u2019s,%u2019%u201D answered Urd, %u201CI did just save
your life, you know.%u201D
%u201CI could have taken care of them by my self,%u201D said Night Lancer, while
leaning up against the wall next to Urd, %u201Cbut that%u2019s beside the point,
why are you here?%u201D
%u201CWell,%u201D said Urd while getting off the wall, %u201CI%u2019ve got a few questions
of my own for ya.%u201D
%u201CWhat?%u201D asked Night Lancer while lighting up a new cigarette.
%u201CI wanna know about your past.%u201D Replied Urd, %u201Clike who are you and why
you fight?%u201D
%u201CWell%u2026%u201D replied Night lancer as he blew out a large amount of smoke.
%u201CWell%u2026?%u201D asked Urd with a puzzled look on her face.
%u201CMy past is better left forgotten,%u201D replied Night Lancer grimly. %u201CAnd
who am I%u2026 well%u2026 you already know the answer to that one.%u201D
%u201CI do?%u201D replied Urd with an even more puzzled look on her face.
%u201CYeah,%u201D he said as he walked down the alleyway, %u201CI%u2019m Night Lancer%u2026%u201D
%u201CHang on!%u201D yelled Urd, still confused by his reply. %u201CThat%u2019s not what I
meant.%u201D
But it was too late. Night Lancer had already gone around the corner.
%u201CWell I tried, I guess there%u2019s nothing I can do about it if he doesn%u2019t
wanna talk,%u201D she thought to her self. %u201CMight as well head home. It%u2019s
getting late,%u201D
*Several minutes later*
Night Lancer had finally gotten back to his apartment.
%u201CFinally,%u201D he thought to him self as he put his key into the lock and
opened the door.
His apartment was a small one%u2013room bit (literally it only had _one_
_room_) which only consisted of the bedroom-kitchen-living room, with
nothing more then a roll out futon for a bed. The benches were littered
with fast food containers and two minuet noodle pots, the sink was over
flowing with dirty dishes and there was about three ashtrays scattered
around all of which were overflowing with cigarette buts. This was
really the apartment from hell.
%u201CAhh, home again,%u201D Night Lancer said to him self as he breathed in the
air of his apartment (which tasted like Singapore noodles and cigarette
smoke) and yawned heavily. %u201CLooks like sleep time I guess.%u201D So he walked
over to his futon and collapsed on to it and fell asleep. (Still fully
clothed mind you)
*At the same time back at the temple compound*
Urd was just getting back. By this time the sun had completely set and
the temple building was completely dark and quiet inside, apart from the
occasional snoring sound coming from Belldandy, Skuld and Urd%u2019s bedroom,
most likely Skuld. As she walked through the door, Urd could see the
silhouette of a person sneaking down the hall.
As she snuck up behind this person she noticed it was Belldandy.
%u201CQuite sneaky tonight, aren%u2019t we,%u201D Urd said, the scare causing Belldandy
to jump.
%u201COhh%u2026 Um%u2026 Err%u2026 Hello big sister I see you%u2019re back again,%u201D stammered
Belldandy, still in a stat of shock and trying desperately to change the
subject.
%u201CBelldandy what are you doing out of bed at this hour?%u201D asked Urd with a
slight grin on her face.
%u201CI was%u2026 Umm%u2026 Well I was%u2026 Err%u2026,%u201D Belldandy stuttered only to be cut off
by Urd.
%u201CYou weren%u2019t planning to sneak into Keichii bedroom were you?%u201D Urd cut
in, the statement making Belldandy blush slightly. %u201CBecause if you were,
you%u2019ll be needing one of my love potions. Try %u2018Supper Wammo No 16,%u2019 that
should do the trick.%u201D
%u201CUrd,%u201D Belldandy replied, slightly annoyed but also now blushing bright
red. %u201CI%u2019m not going to do anything like that while I%u2019m there.%u201D
%u201CHe, He, I know,%u201D answered Urd smiling, %u201Cyou just go enjoy your self,
I%u2019ll take care of the young%u2019un for you.%u201D
%u201CThank you big sis,%u201D Belldandy answered happily as she snuck into
Keichii%u2019s room.
%u201CWow, haven%u2019t seen her this happy in a while,%u201D thought Urd as she got
changed into her PJ%u2019s and went to bed next to Skuld.
*The next morning*
%u201CDahh hell,%u201D Night Lancer said to himself as he woke up, %u201Cman am I hungry.%u201D
Night Lancer sat up in his futon and surveyed his apartment for food,
only to find nothing.
%u201CDamn,%u201D he thought to him self, %u201Clooks like I%u2019m eating at Belldandy%u2019s
this morning.%u201D
So he got up and walked out of his apartment, locked the door behind him
and started off towards the temple compound. This time he got there
without any trouble.
But upon arrival at the temple compound he noticed a rather unusual
sight, Urd was standing out the front with a rather large lump on her head.
%u201COwch, that had to hurt,%u201D said Night Lancer while inspecting Urd%u2019s head.
What the hell happened here?%u201D
%u201CMt Skuld erupted,%u201D replied Urd sadly, %u201Cand all hell broke loose.%u201D
%u201CShit,%u201D remarked Night Lancer while looking around, %u201Cso what does that
mean in English?%u2019
%u201CWell, the story goes like this,%u201D said Urd while trying to remember what
happened.
*Twenty or so minutes ago*
It was early in the morning and Skuld had woken up before everybody else.
%u201CGood morning everybody,%u201D said Skuld as she sat up, yawned, looked
around and noticed that Belldandy wasn%u2019t in her usual spot. %u201CHmm looks
like big sister is already up.%u201D
%u201CBig sister where are you!%u201D she sang out as she walked down the hallway,
but was unable to find her.
%u201CHmmm,%u201D thought Skuld, %u201Cthis is weird. Maybe she%u2019s serving Keichii
breakfast,%u201D as she headed for Keichii%u2019s room. She opened the door and
nearly fainted at the sight which lay before her. Belldandy was fast
asleep next to Keichii who was also asleep with his arm draped over her.
Skuld looked at Keichii, then at Belldandy and then back at Keichii and
yelled at the top of her voice %u201CPERVERT!%u201D The sound of her voice waking
up everybody in the household.
%u201CShit,%u201D said Keichii with-out even realizing he%u2019d said it, after
noticing the situation.
Belldandy rolled over to see her little sister who didn%u2019t know whether
to faint of kill Keichii.
%u201CGood morning,%u201D said Belldandy happily trying to lighten the mood.
%u201CG%u2026 Go%u2026 Good%u2026 Morning!%u201D yelled Skuld, in a state of extreme shock and
about to have a nervous breakdown, %u201CIs that all you can say!%u201D
%u201CHay, what%u2019s all the shouting about here?%u201D said Urd as she came down the
hallway. %u201COhh I see looks like the plan didn%u2019t work.%u201D
%u201CPlan, what plan!%u201D yelled Skuld still showing no sighs of calming down.
%u201CDon%u2019t tell me that you had a part in this profanity too big sister.%u201D
%u201COops, I didn%u2019t just say that out loud,%u201D replied Urd nervously, %u201Cdid I?%u201D
%u201CYeah, you did,%u201D answered Keichii who was now sitting up in his futon.
%u201CAnd by the way what was that plan?%u201D
%u201CWell since both of you are still clothed I guess I could tell you,%u201D
said Urd. %u201CI was trying to convince Belldandy to use one of my love
potions, just to speed things up a little. But I guess it didn%u2019t play
out as I expected,%u201D as she looked over to Skuld who was about to explode.
%u201CY%u2026 Y%u2026 You%u2026 You PERVERTED FOOL!%u201D she yelled even louder then before,
this time using her lettering tattooing ability to try and paste the
words across Urd%u2019s face, but instead missing and plastering them all
down the hall. Along the inside of Keichii%u2019s room and , one of them hit
Keichii in the face, and spelt PERVERT in bright pink, bold letters.
Seeing her first attack fail, Skuld proceeded to grab her hammer and
whack Urd in the head with it, leaving a rather large lump.
%u201CUmm, Urd I think you should leave before you get your self hurt any
more,%u201D said Belldandy politely.
%u201CI think you%u2019re right, replied Urd, %u201CI%u2019m outa here.%u201D
She walked out of the temple building%u2026
ญญ%u201CWell anyway that%u2019s the story,%u201D stated Urd.
%u201CGreat,%u201D replied Night Lancer who at this point had started smoking a
cigarette.
%u201CYou know those things are going to kill you,%u201D said Urd with a look of
dissatisfaction on her face.
%u201CShut up,%u201D replied Night Lancer. %u201CIf there things don%u2019t kill me those
fucking demons will.%u201D
%u201CHa,%u201D answered Urd, %u201Cyou%u2019re a weird guy Night Lancer.%u201D
%u201CYeah I%u2026,%u201D said Night Lancer only to be cut off by a yell from inside
the temple building, as Keichii ran out wearing nothing but a pair of
boxer shorts, followed closely by Skuld who was swinging her hammer
wildly in a effort to hit him. The sight made Night Lancer jaw drop
open, his cigarette fell out and landed on the ground. %u201CWell there%u2019s a
sight I could have of done without.%u201D
%u201CYea,%u201D replied a completely astonished Urd. Meanwhile, in the
background, Skuld can be heard trying to kill Keichii with her hammer.
%u201CLooks like I may need to help in this one,%u201D said Night Lancer while
walking over to try and gain control of the situation.
%u201CHey%u2026 Night Lancer%u2026 a little help?%u201D asked Keichii while dodging numerous
hammer swings.
%u201CYeah sure,%u201D said Night Lancer as caught Skuld%u2019s hammer in mid-swing.
%u201CNow Skuld, calm down, I mean come on, it%u2019s not like they were having
sex or anything.%u201D
%u201CNow you%u2019ve gone and done it,%u201D replied Keichii with a scared look on his
face, and pointed to Skuld who had now turned her rage towards Night Lancer.
%u201CShit,%u201D thought Night Lancer as Skuld raised her hammer and swung it at
Night Lancer. He moved out of the way just in time.
%u201CSkuld, calm down, damn it!%u201D he yelled while dodging swings.
%u201CNo, you pervert,%u201D replied Skuld.
%u201CUrd, do me a favor and grab my sword please!%u201D Night Lancer yelled. Urd
indoors and returned minutes later with his sword, just in time to see
Night Lancer cop a hammer swing in the face, knocking him flying into on
of the walls surrounding the compound with enough force to make a decent
hole.
%u201CNight Lancer, you ok over there?%u201D asked Urd as Night Lancer sat up and
dusted him self off.
%u201CYeah fine,%u201D he replied, as Urd threw him his katana. %u201CAll right Skuld,
I%u2019ll give you one more chance to calm down and put that hammer away, or
I%u2019ll turn it into chopsticks, ok?%u201D
%u201CNo!%u201D yelled Skuld as she raised her hammer ready to strike, and charged
him.
%u201CBloody hell,%u201D said Night Lancer who raised his still sheathed katana
and blocked the hammer with absolute ease.
%u201CWhat!%u201D screamed Skuld upon seeing Night Lancer%u2019s relaxed face. %u201CThere%u2019s
no way! This hammer can break through anything, even Spiran weapons.%u201D
%u201CWell obviously this blade is more than just normal weapon,%u201D replied
Night Lancer as he pushed Skuld%u2019s hammer out of the way. %u201CNow are we
going to stop, or will I to have to hurt you?%u201D
%u201CNo, you%u2019re the one who is going to be hurt,%u201D answered Skuld who swung
at Night Lancer again, and again, and again, each swing being blocked by
Night Lancer who%u2019s precision was only rivaled by his ease.
%u201CNo, it couldn%u2019t be%u2026,%u201D said Urd whilst she rushed indoors.
%u201CAll right Skuld, if you aren%u2019t gonna calm down I%u2019ll have to end this!%u201D
yelled Night Lancer as he jumped back and drew his katana, %u201CNow this is
your last chance, stop this _NOW_!%u201D
%u201CNO!%u201D replied Skuld whose rage had now driven her to a point of
insanity. %u201CYou must be pretty pathetic, begging me to stop.%u201D
%u201CSkuld, stop this now!%u201D screamed Belldandy who was now standing at the
entrance to the temple building, her face red and puffed up. She had
been crying heavily.
%u201CNO!%u201D answered Skuld as she swung her hammer at Night Lancer who yet
again dodged it with ease.
%u201CSorry Bell, I%u2019m going to have to end this my way,%u201D said Night Lancer.
He swung his katana at Skuld, who raised her hammer just in time to
block it, the force of the impact shattering the metal shaft of the
hammer into a million pieces. Night Lancer%u2019s sword kept going until he
stopped it at the side of her neck, and drew it back slowly, a small cut
forming where the sword had been. The shock made Skuld faint. %u201CSorry it
had to come to that.%u201D
He stuck his katana in the ground where he was standing, bent down,
picked her up and carried her over to where Belldandy was standing.
%u201CWill she be ok?%u201D asked Keichii as he waked over and stood next to
Belldandy.
%u201CYea she%u2019ll be fine,%u201D answered Night Lancer as he put her in-front of
Belldandy. %u201CShe%u2019s just fainted, take her to her room and she%u2019ll we fine
in about ten or so minutes.%u201D
%u201CAlright,%u201D said Belldandy and she levitated Skuld down the hall. %u201CUmm
Keichii-san, I think you should get dressed or something.%u201D
%u201CYeah I guess so,%u201D replied Keichii and he walked indoors.
%u201CWell this morning has been eventful,%u201D thought Night Lancer as he walked
over and grabbed his sword and walked back indoors.
%u201CI%u2019ve got it!%u201D yelled Urd as she ran out of her room with a book under
her arm, knocking Night Lancer over.
%u201CShit Urd, what%u2019s got you so happy?%u201D asked Night Lancer as he got back
up off the ground.
%u201CI just found out a load of info about your sword,%u201D replied Urd while
raising the book in front of her. %u201CIf you would be so kind as to follow
me, I%u2019ll show you.%u201D
Ok, why not,%u201D answered Night Lancer as they walked down the hall and
into the tea room. They walked in, to Belldandy and Keichii (who were
now fully clothed) sitting at the table talking quietly.
%u201COk, now what%u2019s this all about?%u201D asked Night Lancer while leaning up
against the wall.
%u201CPass me your sword,%u201D replied Urd while opening the book.
%u201COk,%u201D said night lancer while swinging his katana off his shoulder and
passed it to Urd.
%u201CNow if I%u2019m correct...,%u201D replied Urd as she tried to draw Night lancer%u2019s
sword, but was unable to do so. %u201CAhh just as I thought.%u201D
%u201CWhat?%u201D asked Night Lancer while Urd passed him back his katana, %u201CIs it
jammed or somthin%u2019.%u201D As he drew his sword with absolute ease.
%u201CHmm just as I thought,%u201D stated Urd who now had her face covered by the
book. %u201CThat%u2019s no normal sword you%u2019ve got there my friend, it%u2019s pre-arcane.%u201D
%u201CUrd, you%u2019re not saying that it is one of the three are you,%u201D replied a
half surprised Belldandy, %u201Cbecause that%u2019s nearly impossible, not even
Kami-sama knows of there location.%u201D
%u201CNearly doesn%u2019t count little sis,%u201D stated Urd. %u201CAnyway as I was saying
this is one of the three legendary swords, these outdate even us three
Norns. They are very powerful weapons made to be wielded by only one
person each, and only one, there names where, Knifes Edge: a extremely
large broad sword, Freedoms Blade: a two handed long sword of extreme
beauty, and Angel Fire: A katana imbued with the powers of a chaos angel
of the light. These weapons are neither good nor are they evil. But
there powers do rival even present day Yggdrasil weapons. The one you
have in your hands is the most powerful of them, Angel Fire.%u201D
%u201CWow,%u201D answered an extremely surprised Night Lancer.
%u201CYeah, it%u2019s by sheer luck that you came across that sword,%u201D replied Urd,
%u201COf course now you%u2019ll have to learn how to wield it properly. There%u2019s a
test I wouldn%u2019t mind you doing that might help.%u201D
%u201CYeah why not,%u201D answered Night Lancer, %u201CWhat do you need me ta do?%u201D
%u201CWell first follow me out doors,%u201D said Urd as she walked out followed by
Keichii, Belldandy and Night Lancer.
%u201COk, now what?%u201D asked Night Lancer.
%u201CClose your eyes,%u201D instructed Urd, %u201COk now Keichii, Belldandy it%u2019s
advisable that you stand back. Now Night Lancer concentrate all of your
energy into the blade of your sword.%u201D
%u201CHow do you do that?%u201D quizzed Night Lancer with a puzzled expression on
his face.
%u201COk you know hay you heal yourself, right,%u201D answered Urd, %u201CDo the same
but instead concentrate the raw energy down the blade of your sword.%u201D
%u201COk, here goes nothin%u2019,%u201D replied Night Lancer with a lack of confidence
in his voice as he closed his eyes and his face turned to concentration,
after about thirty or so seconds his sword slowly started to glow, at
first it was barely visible but then began to strengthen until the whole
blade glowed a deep crimson red, then suddenly Night Lancer collapsed to
the ground.
%u201CDamn I thought that might happen,%u201D thought Urd as Keichii and Belldandy
rushed over to help Night Lancer.
