Night Lancer Chronicles Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Fallen Night. Two days later
%u201CWhat Kind of condition is he in?%u201D
%u201CHe got shot up pretty bad but the good news is it%u2019s healing.%u201D
%u201CThat%u2019s good.%u201D
%u201CYippee, Yippee.%u201D
%u201CShh! Quiet you little brat or you%u2019ll wake him.%u201D
%u201CBiida!%u201D squeaked Skuld as she poked her tongue out at Urd.
%u201CWhy you little bitch!%u201D yelled Urd.
%u201CKeep it down,%u201D groaned Night Lancer as he slowly opened his eyes to see
Urd and Skuld fighting again. %u201CSome of us are trying to pass out over
here ya know.%u201D
%u201CAh you%u2019re finally awake,%u201D replied Belldandy with a happy look on her
face. %u201CHow are you feeling?%u201D
%u201CWell I%u2019ve been better, no doubts there,%u201D groaned Night Lancer as he
tried to sit up. %u201CAhh crap! What the fuck?%u201D
%u201COh yea, um, we kinda had to wrap your chest in bandages,%u201D said Skuld
innocently.
%u201CWhy?%u201D asked Night Lancer while fumbling around for a cigarette.
%u201CWell you got shot up pretty bad,%u201D replied Urd. %u201CWhat are you looking for?%u201D
%u201CA cigarette,%u201D answered Night Lancer.
%u201CYou smoke,%u201D asked Belldandy with a cross look on her face.
%u201CYeah occasionally,%u201D replied Night Lancer as he lit up a cigarette. %u201CAhh
that%u2019s the way to ditch the pain.%u201D
%u201CHow old are you?%u201D asked Belldandy, %u201CYou look a bit young.%u201D
%u201DIf you really want to know, I%u2019m eighteen,%u201D replied Night Lancer, with
the cigarette still in the corner of his mouth. %u201CGot an ashtray.%u201D
%u201CI%u2019ll check,%u201D replied Belldandy as she got up and left the room.
%u201CSo what the hell happened,%u201D asked Night Lancer.
%u201CWell,%u201D replied Urd, trying to remember the incident two days ago.
%u201CAfter that fight you got into with that demon bounty hunter, you made
my sister sick from the mess so she ran indoors. Then suddenly, you
collapsed on to the ground and passed out with a puddle of blood forming
under you. So I brought you indoors to inspect those wounds of yours.
The problem is that we goddesses can%u2019t heal the arcane energy that was
used, so you%u2019ll have to be in bed for a little while.%u201D
%u201CNo I won%u2019t.%u201D replied Night Lancer as he put on of his hands to his
chest, closed his eyes and his hand emitted a low yellow glow for a few
seconds. %u201CAhh that feels better.%u201D
%u201CWhat was that!%u201D yelled a wide eyed Skuld. %u201CNo mortal can do anything
like that.%u201D
%u201CWell yeah, my slow minded little companion,%u201D replied Night Lancer
cruelly, %u201CYou see I%u2019m no normal stinking mort%u2026 oh fuck
THUMP!
Skuld whacked Night Lancer across the head with her hammer knocking him
out cold.
%u201CSlow minded little companion. Hmmf,%u201D Said Skuld indignantly as
Belldandy walked through the door to see Night Lancer lying on his back
out cold with a huge lump on his head and Skuld standing opposite with
her hammer raised.
%u201CWhat happened here?%u201D she asked suspiciously while inspecting the situation.
%u201CNight Lancer called Skuld little,%u201D answered Urd.
%u201CWell at least he%u2019s stopped smoking,%u201D replied Belldandy.
%u201CYeah but what are we going to do now?%u201D asked Urd while looking from
Skuld to the unconscious heap that was Night Lancer and back again. %u201CI
guess first of all I%u2019m going to get a drink it%u2019s been a full three hours
since my last bottle of sake,%u201D she said as she walked out of the room.
Then the suddenly in the background there was the sound of Keichii%u2019s
motorbike pulling into the temple.
%u201CKeichii%u2019s home!%u201D yelled Belldandy as she ran out the door to greet her
boy friend leaving Skuld to take care of the still unconscious Night Lancer.
*Ten minuets later*
%u201CUgg%u2026, my fucking head.%u201D Groaned Night Lancer as he comes to and sat up
to see Skuld kneeling in front of him. %u201CWhat the fuck are you looking at?%u201D
%u201CWell, that%u2019s a bit mean,%u201D replied Skuld with a surprised look on her face.
%u201CWell lets see, you hit me in the head with that fucking hammer, I have
every right to be mean!%u201D replied a really pissed Night Lancer.
Just then Urd, Belldandy and Keichii burst through the door.
%u201CWhat%u2019s all the yelling for?%u201D yelled Urd as she came through the door to
see a now wide awake and extremely pissed off Night Lancer and an also
pretty pissed Skuld standing in the middle of the room about to kill
each other.
%u201CAhh.., Night Lancer I see you%u2019re awake now,%u201D said Belldandy as Night
Lancer walked over to grab his coat and Katana.
%u201CYeah, I%u2019m up, but for a second I thought that I died and went ta hell
when I woke up to see her face staring at me,%u201D replied Night Lancer as
he pointed over his shoulder at Skuld, who just stuck her tongue out.
%u201CBiida,%u201D
%u201CYou stick that thing out at me once more, I%u2019ll cut it off,%u201D Said Night
Lancer cruelly. Meanwhile Urd cracked up laughing. %u201CWhat%u2019s so funny Urd?%u201D
%u201CIt%u2019s just the way you shot down my sister like that,%u201D replied Urd,
after she managed to subdue the laughs. %u201CCrash and burn Skuld! Ha Ha Ha!%u201D
Just then Skuld got up and stormed out of the room muttering something
about being beaten by a pathetic mortal half breed.
%u201COuch that%u2019s gotta hurt,%u201D said Night Lancer in a mocking voice. %u201COk now
where were we before I got a hammer in the head?%u2019
%u201CWe were trying to find out why that demon was after you?%u201D replied Urd
in a serious tone. %u201CWhat did he mean by the bounty on your head?%u201D
%u201CWell, it goes like this,%u201D replied Night Lancer, %u2018because I%u2019m a demon
hunter I%u2019ve killed several demons in my time. So many that I now have
some sort of a bounty on my head. So now there%u2019s every single powerful
demon after me%u2026 Oh yea, before I forget, that%u2019s not the only thing after
me.%u201D
%u201CWhat do you mean?%u201D asked Belldandy with a look of surprise on her face.
%u201CWell, you see, the way I%u2019ve been making money to live is as a hired
mercenary for the Tokyo gangs, mainly working against the Yakuza,%u201D
replied Night Lancer as he crossed his arms and lent against the wall.%u201D
And I%u2019ve pissed them off a bit too much.%u201D
%u201CAhh great,%u201D answered Keichii sarcastically.
%u201CBut it%u2019s ok,%u201D replied Night Lancer coolly, %u201Cafter the last time I dealt
with them they ain%u2019t gonna be coming back after me in a hurry.%u201D
%u201CWhy%u2019s that?%u201D asked Urd.
%u201CLet%u2019s just say I went out with a big bang.%u201D Replied Night Lancer with a
slight smile on his face. He then looked at the clock, %u201CBut anyway, it%u2019s
about time I left and started off home.%u201D
%u201CHang on!%u201D said Belldandy just as Night Lancer walked out the door.
%u201CWhat?%u201D
%u201CWell I just finished cooking dinner,%u201D replied Belldandy. %u201CI made a
little extra hoping that you would stay awhile?%u201D
%u201CHmm, come to think of it I am kinda hungry ehh%u2026, why not?%u201D answered
Night Lancer as they all walked out the room to see Skuld in one of her
usual bad moods.
%u201CWhat%u2019s for dinner any ways?%u201D asked Night Lancer. %u201CIt can%u2019t be much
worse than what I%u2019ve been living off lately.%u201D
%u201CWhy?%u201D asked Keichii, %u201Chow bad can it be?%u201D
%u201CWell let%u2019s see. Of late my idea of a good meal has been cheap Chinese
take out,%u201D replied Night Lancer unhappily.
%u201CWell you%u2019re in for a treat tonight, answered Keichii, %u201CBecause
Belldandy is an excellent cook.%u201D
%u201COh please Keichii-san,%u201D replied Belldandy blushing slightly. She went
off into the kitchen returning minutes later with a tray of rice, bowl,
chopsticks and a mixed assortment of different Japanese food dishes.
%u201CHoly SHIT!%u201D yelled a wide eyed Night Lancer, upon seeing the tray of
food. %u201CI%u2026 I%u2026 I%u2019ve never seen%u2026 anything like this before! So much food%u2026
Cant resist!%u201D as he grabbed a pair of chopsticks and started loading up
his bowl with food.
%u201CWow%u2026 I%u2019ve never seen someone eat so much so fast,%u201D said a very
surprised Keichii.
%u201CIt%u2019s like the poor guy%u2019s never eaten before in his life,%u201D replied Urd,
%u201Cha Belldandy.%u201D
%u201C%u2026 yeah,%u2019 answered an extremely surprised Belldandy. Meanwhile Night
Lancer readied him self for a fourth bowl of rice and pork.
*Forty five minuted later.*
%u201CÚhhhh%u2026 wasted,%u201D groaned a now finally satisfied Night Lancer after
twenty or so helpings of rice, sake, pork, beef and whatever else he
could get his chopsticks and teeth into. %u201CAhh that feels better.%u201D
%u201CWow,%u201D stated an extremely surprised Urd. %u201CI%u2019ve never seen a single
human eat so much, or even a divine for that matter.%u201D
%u201CYeah, well I never thought food could taste so good,%u201D replied Night
Lancer who was now lying on his back. %u201COuch, ow, ow, ow man I those
things always poke into me when I stuff my self. He said as he put two
ands into his trench coat and pulled out a pair of shining handguns and
laid them on the table. %u201CMan that feels better now.%u201D
%u201CWow! What are these? I%u2019ve never seen anything like them before,%u201D gasped
Keichii as he picked up the larger of the two guns and examined them
closely.
%u201CThese are two of my most reliable companions, the one in your hands is
a Desert Eagle 4.4 modified to fire explosive shells instead of
hollow-tipped, and the smaller one is a Beretta 9mm modified to fire a
three round burst of armour piercing shots with an extended clip.%u201D
Stated Night Lancer as Skuld picked up the Beretta and inspected it
closely. %u201CBe careful it%u2019s%u2026%u201D BANG! BANG! BANG! %u201CLoaded.%u201D He warned as
Skuld accidentally squeezed the trigger and the gun let off a burst of
fire, the recoil knocking her flat on her ass, the gun flying out of her
hand and landing ont the ground with a thump. The three shots narrowly
missed Night Lancer%u2019s head, one of which skimmed his cheek, cutting it
slightly and a line of blood seeped out slowly. %u201CTold ya, didn%u2019t I?%u201D
%u201COwwch, that hurt,%u201D whined Skuld as she stood up rubbing her ass.
%u201CDumb-ass,%u201D replied Night Lancer cruelly. Mean while Urd cracked up
laughing at the site of her sister falling flat on her ass.
%u201CHay Night Lancer! What%u2019s this?%u201D yelled Keichii while pointing at an
inscription on the side of the gun.
Read it and you%u2019ll find out,%u201D yelled Night Lancer.
%u201CIt reads %u2018Vengeance%u2019,%u201D replied Keichii.
%u201CHay this one has %u2018Hope%u2019 engraved on the side of it,%u201D said Urd, while
holding back Skuld.
%u201CHay I was looking at that, yelled Skuld while trying to tackle Urd to
the ground.
%u201CWell you can%u2019t be trusted with it,%u201D replied Urd meanly.
%u201CWhy not!%u201D yelled Skuld, while attempting yet another tackle on her sister.
%u201CBecause you%u2019re a little brat and next time you might hit something
important, like one of my sake bottles,%u201D replied Urd teasingly.
%u201CHay! What about me? I%u2019m the one who almost got the bullet in the
skull,%u201D yelled Night Lancer, %u201CYou saying that I%u2019m not important?%u201D
%u201CYeap,%u201D replied Urd.
%u201COh that%u2019s it, you%u2019re screwed!%u201D replied Night Lancer, while reaching
back for his Katana.
%u201CI don%u2019t think so,%u201D yelled Urd as she threw a lightning bolt at Night
Lancer hitting him in the chest. It exploded on impact.
%u201CDahh fuck!%u201D yelled Night Lancer as the lightning bolt hit him, %u201Chay you
mind? I%u2019m still tender there.%u201D
Thought you healed your self %u201D asked Urd.
%u201CYeah I did, but not completely,%u201D replied Night Lancer. %u201CI only have
limited abilities, so it doesn%u2019t heal completely. I can heal my self to
a certain extent.%u201D
%u201COh,%u201D replied Urd, %u201CSo what%u2019s the extent that you can heal your self?%u201D
%u201CNot very well,%u201D answered Night Lancer, %u201COnly limited injuries, no
sickness and no broken bones.%u201D
%u201COhh well,%u201D replied Skuld while grabbing Night Lancer%u2019s larger handgun
and inspecting it closely.
%u201CHay, hay be careful with that!%u201D yelled Night Lancer after seeing Skuld
pick up his handgun. %u201CYou hit someone with a shell from that there%u2019ll be
hole the size of a basketball in them.%u201D
%u201CEww, that%u2019s gross,%u201D replied Skuld, now slightly green in the face after
imagining the scene of a person with a basketball-sized hole in their
chest. She threw the gun down on the table, which set it off, and sent a
bullet straight for Belldandy%u2019s chest. It hit her, went straight through
her chest and hit the wall behind her. It exploded on impact, sending
bits and pieces of wood in all direction, one of which hit Keichii on
the forehead, knocking him unconscious.
%u201COuch, that%u2019s gotta hurt.%u201D Said Night Lancer while standing up to dust
the wood fragments off his coat, and pointing at the motionless heap
that was Keichii. He sat down again.
%u201COh god, Keichii-san!%u201D shrieked Belldandy, %u201CWill he be OK?%u201D
%u201CYeah he%u2019ll be fine,%u201D replied Urd while inspecting the rather large lump
on Keichii%u2019s head.
Suddenly Night Lancer realised where the shot had gone.
%u201CHang on a second!%u201D yelled Night Lancer after noticing the small hole in
Belldandy%u2019s where the bullet had passed through. %u201CWhat the fucks going
on here? That shot should had of blown a massive hole in you, but
instead it went through you without even leaving a scratch?%u201D
%u201CYeah well what more do you expect from a pathetic three dimensional
mortal weapon?%u201D replied Skuld.
%u201CThree dimensional?%u201D asked Night Lancer with an expression on his face
as if to say %u2018what the fuck are you going on about!%u2019
%u201CI take it you don%u2019t know anything about the ten dimensional factor?%u201D
replied Belldandy, while levitating the still unconscious Keichii down
the hall to his room. %u201CSkuld would you please explain to Night Lancer
about the ten dimensions.%u201D
%u201CBut elder sister we%u2019re not supposed to tell mortals about the ten
dimensional factor,%u201D answered Skuld.
%u201CHay this guy saved our lives, I think we can trust him,%u201D replied Urd,
as she walked out of the room, leaving Skuld to talk with Night Lancer.
%u201COK mortal boy, listen up because I%u2019m only gong to explain this once,%u201D
said Skuld in a lecturing tone of voice. %u201CAs you may think tis world
exists in three different dimensions, point, linear and special. This is
the realm of existence of you mortals ant your creations. Bot you see we
goddesses have then dimensions of existence. Thus we can move through
ten different dimensions, three dimensional objects can%u2019t harm us. Ok
understand?%u201D
%u201CYeah I think so,%u201D replied Night Lancer while scratching his head. %u201CSo
you%u2019re saying that my guns can%u2019t harm you.%u201D
%u201CYeah,%u201D answered Skuld, %u201CYou catch on fairly quick.%u201D
%u201CBut what about my Katana?%u201D replied Night Lancer.
%u201CAhh, that%u2019s one of the few exceptions,%u201D replied Skuld.
%u201Cyoyr sword seems to have some very powerfull arcane magic to itt,%u201D said
Urd, who had just come into the room.
%u201COh, OK, now I%u2019m beginning to understand.%u201D Said Night Lancer, %u201CBut the
only problem is what kind of energy is being used?%u201D
%u201CUmm, well, there%u2019s the problem,%u201D replied Urd. %u201CI%u2019ll need to borrow
you%u2019re sword for a while to run a few tests.%u201D
Well I don%u2019t see any reasons why not,%u201D replied Night Lancer, while
passing Urd his Katana.
%u201CThanks,%u201D said Urd, %u201CIt shouldn%u2019t take to long ta run those tests. You
should have it back by tomorrow,%u201D
%u201CAll right, but if anything happens to my sword I%u2019ll shove it up your
ass, side ways,%u201D said Night lancer, while looking at the clock. %u201CWell
I%u2019d better get going, see ya, Ohh yea before I forget, tell Belldandy
that she%u2019s a great cook.%u201D
He walked over to the table to pick up he hand guns, but stopped for a
second and then looked at Skuld and said, %u201CHang on a second, Skuld, you
reckon you could build equipment that would exist in all ten dimensions?%u201D
%u201CYeah easily,%u201D replied Skuld, %u201Cwhy?%u201D
%u201CYou reckon you could put together some ten dimensional ammo for my hand
guns?%u201D asked Night Lancer.
%u201CYea, I could,%u201D answered Skuld, %u201Cbut give me one good reason why?%u201D
Because firstly they would come in handy, and secondly I%u2019ll stop calling
you kid, kid,%u201D said Night Lancer.
%u201CMaybe,%u201D replied Skuld, just as Urd leant over and whispered something
into Night Lancer%u2019s ear, who nodded slightly.
%u201CThere%u2019s a ten litre tub of vanilla ice cream in it for you,%u201D said Night
Lancer temptingly.
%u201COK!%u201D said Skuld, jumping around happily. %u201CBut you better keep your
promise!%u201D
%u201CHa, you know me,%u201D said Night Lancer, while walking out the door. %u201CSee ya!%u201D
%u201CYeah, see ya,%u201D said Urd while waving.
The sun was low in the sky as Night Lancer walked home. He lived in a
flat in the central city so he took many small alley ways home as short
cuts. While walking down one of these he came across a group of about a
dozen tough looking men, a few carrying guns and the rest carrying an
assortment of baseball bats, polls and golf clubs. Night Lancer
recognised them as members of the Yakuza, one of the most infamous gangs
in Japan and the last people Night Lancer wanted to run into.
%u201CShit,%u201D thought Night Lancer, as they noticed him walking down the allyway%u2026
